Brilliant, is ths venue still standing or has it gone?
Just found this dated 2015.
South London venue Crucifix Lane will be closing its doors for good this weekend, in order to make room for the extension of London Bridge train station. Running for over 20 years, formerly known as Happy Jax and Jacks, it’s played host to nights such as Night Slugs and and Bugged Out in the past, including The Chemical Brothers’ first show back in 1994.
We used to drive down and be able to park really close by. A different world now.
The venue is no longer, but was right around the corner from where I work.
This has cropped up on the wall besides the space, obviously there’s a few around London.
@wearethemusicmakers - Do you have the Heavenly Social @ Deluxe flyer for night Andrew played? I met my wife at the night
@grantham_disco I may do somewhere as I think I flyered that night for James Bailey… it’s not something I’ll find easily, but I will keep it in mind.
A recently unearthed tape of Andrew & Justin Robertson in Manchester 1992
Dunno if these have already been posted
Bigfoot’s Strikes 4! - Andrew Weatherall & Ivan Smagghe (14/12/12 @ Snafu, Aberdeen) by Bigfoot’s Tea Party on #SoundCloud
Andrew Weatherall Mix from Tunnels 06.05.2017 by moclubsnafu on #SoundCloud
I was at the Snafu one! That used to be a decent venue. Now the basement function room of Brewdog
EDIT. It was at The Tunnels. I did start to think I don’t remember it being at Snafu, it was promoted by Mo at Snafu though.
It was the ALFOS at The Tunnels in 2015 that I finally met and talked with Andrew. They say don’t meet your heros, but he was just lovely and very kind to me, as I came across as a total gushing fan boy!
He asked me my name and then said ‘Well it’s a pleasure to meet you Jason’
Some artists leave a legacy that stretches far beyond a great single or a number one album.
Artist Focus is a new series from Melodic Distraction radio that deep dives into the life and times of the musicians that have defined the sound of modern music. From stone cold classics to the unearthed gems and forgotten B-sides, our community tribute an hour of music by a single artist that has had a notable impact on their life.
This week, Joe Morris covers the sounds of Andrew Weatherall.
