Where were yee in '93?

Loads of Japanese labels when there wasn’t so much available elsewhere. Issey Miyake, CDG and Yoji etc. Used to love Issey Miyake ‘Pleats Please’ shirts in the dressy clubby days

That’s the one!

I was Tribal Drift’s manager (or terrible drivel as we used to call them behind their backs) so was at that Deptford festival. A great day!

When not doing that in 93…

I was a resident at a fantastic little afters that some might remember called The Twilight Zone that ran from 5 to 2pm every sat and sun at the Tearooms Des Artistes in Clapham (made famous later by Rob Da Bank with his Sunday Best).
It was haifway between Ministry and Club Uk so was usually mobbed and was used as r&r for the dealers who’d been working those venues resulting in pill fights which ive not seen before or since.
All very nessy but great vibes and some of the best fun ive had djing.
We lasted about 18months b4 the 48hr weekends took their toll.

My uni flatmate loved Senser. Since I left, never heard them played or mentioned by anyone!

Circus Bells on ketamine is quite the experience… :skull_and_crossbones:

I turned 18 in 1993, but was very much a child. I lived in a little bubble of my own interests and kept myself to myself.

I was doing my a-levels at Wigan Tech. I painted every day which I loved.

I had a Sony Walkman on for about 10 hours per day. 1993 was Redman, ATCQ, De La, Cypress Hill, Souls of Mischief, Del, LOTUG, Public Enemy, Ice Cube, GangStarr etc. etc. Happy fucking days.

I obsessed over Hip Hop Connection and read each issue multiple times. I bought as much music press as I could - mags plus the papers - to scour them for hip hop reviews/interviews/whatever. I read voraciously. Anything that was around - fantasy and crime fiction, but also anything else in the house - my brothers’ and mum’s magazines.

I was a proper little nerd, but wearing Karl Kani trainers and a Cypress Hill t-shirt. I’ve not changed much.

My youngest daughter(20) wears a Karl Kani tee of mine. I loved it, still in good nick even now.

I feel liike this was common when you about 17/18, the mate with ultra liberal parents which gave you the ideal afters spot - we had a couple of mates whos parents totally didn’t mind people traipsing thru the house between 4 and 10 am, the heavy bong smoke seeping through the house - and the dull 4/4 thud

I had every issue between 1986 and 1997. Dumped the lot in the local refuse centre when I had to move. All the posters/cover mounts. Was a massive pile!

That’s a lot of paper to be carrying around, I’ve got a stash in a cupboard at my workshop but I brought a load home for my daughter to go through. Lots of Nirvana and Manics etc who she’s into.

It was the Motor King range by Michiko Koshino. Pretty sure Dave Little was involved in the design of that range.
