" music, rockin’, rockin’, music"
Popped into Phonica last week when in that London for work
Couldn’t not get & didnt realise green vinyl until I got home - Lovely pressing
One of my favourites that you never see on comps, my original was £1 from Robs records early 90s & knackered then
you may have already heard this about me, but i love buyin’ records.
And because of you I’ve now discovered Jade District by DJ Panthr. Right up my street and quite similar to some stuff I have coming on the deep and dream house tip later this year. Perfect inspiration for me to bring it on home and wrap it up in the coming months.
credit where credit is due! i learned about it from @TheSlowMusicMovement in this thread:
Pretty much spot on with that lowdown
Rose City Bands Garden Party came last week, only just got round to listening, its really lovely stuff again by Ripley Johnson and gang, beautiful blissful pedal steel and guitars.
+1 for DJ Panthrs Jade District. Lovely stuff.
Make that +2
I bought this too!
Just checked, see that the excellent Rooster Records is still going in Exeter. You’re also a 45 minute or so journey away from the brilliant Really Good Records in Plymouth.
i go in Rooster about once a year, it’s pretty poor. Been in Really Good once…it’s very good! Sadly have no desire to search through loads of stuff that doesn’t interest me. I actually don’t really miss record shops at all, apart from hanging out with friends.
lol yeh that used to be my opinion of rooster but now I pop in fairly regularly after the farmers market I’ve been slowly clearing it of the good bits - and now I have the Wi-Fi code I can look stuff up - pet hate is record shops without listening stations
I only buy records these days if I absolutely have to have them - this has been on my list for years but something with the spring weather coming and that gorgeous piano rolling around my head made me pull the trigger.
Was in really good in Plymouth 2 weeks ago, not bad, picked up a nice copy of Penguin Cafe Orchestra’s Broadcasting from home along with Boops by Sly and Robbie, probably could have got more.
Not been so impressed by Rooster the last few times, I still go for a look, but I think I’ve got more from the Oxfam round the corner.

Found a 70’s japanese press of this for decent money here in São Paulo. One of my favorite Japanese jazz albums. Score.
Look at that cover!
