Picked up this 1986 Miles album for $2 in a mobile record parlour in Wellington the other day.

Somehow resisted buying anything else.

Thanks for the tip on that Tapes thing. Lovely.

Wellington, NZ? What a great city. And also, a few years ago I went to a small store a couple of blocks from where you get the ferry to the South Island and I hit a garage/disco goldmine. Somebody had just sold their collector and I bought a crate full that I had to lug around with me for the next two weeks ruining what was meant to be a backpackers trip.

Yep that’s right. It’s right on the coast and surrounded by stunning hills and greenery — absolutely not like Manchester where I’m from. I have to move house tomorrow and lug my records so I feel your pain hauling them round while backpacking. There’s a small electronic scene here which I’m feeling out, but the country is sadly consumed by bogan drum and bass. There are couple of record stores of note here (plus the new mobile one), but nothing specialised so I pick and choose what to buy from overseas.

Got this in the mail today. Nice Italo-ish banger with good vocals.

86 pressing maybe, but the album is more like 68. And a fantastic one, at that.

Daniel Lanois produced that M+M record, wow. Very cool, had never heard it. Added to my wantlist.

Aye, I meant '68. Not sure when the pressing’s from - no info on the sleeve. Will need to head to Discogs.

@Hierbas hipped me to this swedish sweetness over in the Where’s Music At thread. I assumed the vinyl would be too costly for me to have shipped to Australia, but blow me down with a Kanelbulle, it worked out to be $37 shipped (23 euro) , which is bloody great value in 2021.

Also finally got my hands on a long time want - The System EP on Music From Memory. Many will know this, but of you don’t, get your ears into this lush 1983 wonder. “Find It In Your Eyes” is one of the greatest jams ever committed to 1/4" tape.

This arrived on the doorstop also - crystalline studio outtakes of the Deja Vu sessions from CSNY. The harmonies, the cocaine, the duelling guitars of Stills and Neil, the cocaine…excellent.

After reading this article entitled Should You Sample DJ Format’s Devil’s Workshop and DJ Shadow’s Endtroducing? - I immediately jumped onto discogs and grabbed a copy of the amazing DJ Format album from this year. It’s beats the way I like 'em all dusty and all samples. Killer.

While I was browsing the same store, I couldn’t resist this incredible slice of forward thinking, backwards leaning UK Jazz from Greg Foat.
Is it his best? Hard to say, but it would be bloody close.
10th anniversary edition on 180g audiophile vinyl with tip-on gatefold sleeve including archive pics & new liner notes - very nice, thank you very much

Found a couple of absolute gems on discogs going very cheap. Firstly the warm breeze that is Joyce - perfect for a forthcoming summer here in Australia. And last, but by no means least, a 12" that has always alluded me for some reason, but might just be the greatest downbeat track of all time…
