quite expensive but necessary - i bought the boring ol’ black vinyl of this through the rough trade website a few minutes ago.

I wish I’d bought the black vinyl instead of the orange. Mine has a few crackles and had a skip on track 1 (until I’d gone over it quite firmly with cleaner and a micro cloth) and given it’s orange you can’t see f@ck all on the surface. Very frustrating. Felt like a poor pressing

from most folks that i’ve spoken to in manufacturing, i’d been led to believe that the colored variants usually had better QC (mostly because invasive stuff in materials were a little more visible to the naked eye, especially if any recycled content was used) but over the last 10 years or so, i’m more inclined to believe that the black wax versions will be better quality.

completely anecdotal, no science behind it. but in 30 years when someone is excited about buying a record from me i think it’s going to be a selling point that it wasn’t the loser edition and that it was a standard press.

that’s all assuming that someone’s gonna want to buy my records…
