The majority of Oxfams are expensive for charity shops, there’s one in Chorlton, Sth Manchester that’s got good stuff but daft prices, it annoys me because they’re not priced to sell, you go back months later and a lot of the same stock is still there.

Yeah I get that they want to maximise profit, but charging top dollar and having stuff sitting there is dumb IMO.
What something is worth and what someone is prepared to pay are two different things.

Stupid if things are still there weeks/months later.
There’s a great chazza near where I live and the woman who runs it prices things so they sell and people appreciate that she doesn’t take the piss so they chose her shop first out of the 3 or 4 other charity shops around here when they’re donating stuff.
She’s just recently left so i’m hoping it doesn’t go to pot now.

They should do it like record and tape exchange - start at inflated discogs price and see how long you can hold your nerve on the recurring price drop.

Yeah, moved up about 3 years ago and it was the best decision. My old man got dementia, so moved to help him (and my mum). I live in a small wooden cabin with one of the the best views on the island. My commute to work is 20 mins door to door and I’m never more than 15-20 minutes from the sea. It took me a year and a half to eventually decide to make the move. I was worried I would miss city life and all it has to offer, but I’m back down in Edinburgh every couple of months - the flight is just under an hour.
There’s a weird and varied cohort of people living here with lots of culture compared to similar sized places - Dutch drug dealers on the run and in hiding, folks on witness protection (Maxine Carr of Soham murders fame was here for a while), musicians and artists are drawn here, Monks that own a small island and make cheese-they had some differences and split into two groups, both making their own rival cheeses now.
I was browsing Collen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy’s Classic Album Sundays website recently and was blown away to discover that Orkney is well represented with a few sessions here with CAS host Adrian Holmes. All sorts of misfits and interesting people somehow end up on this island. I f you survive your first winter, you’re sorted. From Spring onwards, it is magical and unlike anywhere else `i’ve been.

Saw this there a few months ago, £65 was far too steep for me! Love that track and never seen it anywhere else so it’s haunted me ever since!

It’s the worst one for I’ve seen for overpricing in greater mcr, even the ones in Didsbury and Altrincham have more reasonable prices.

Nabbed a copy of our own lovehandless reworks for part of a good friends Christmas present as he would love it. I haven’t seen him in nearly a decade after he had paranoid schizophrenia, and was sectioned. He blames his pals for this to this day. Both his parents died of cancer the same year. He know lives like a hermit having no contact with anyone. I love him and miss him dearly,
I always leave a parcel of some records and photos for him at Christmas. He would love unrequited Love.
