Popped into Jonny Trunk’s Groovy Record Fair this afternoon and scored this 12”. Turns out it’s the US version which I didn’t even know existed. Always thought it was UK only 12. £12 vg+. Been after it for ages. Well chuffed.

One of the tracks on here was recorded at a school in St Germain-en-Laye where my partner lives. She didn’t grow up there but knows people who did. I’m going to investigate!

Went down to see my mum in Cornwall last week. Lurking in the back of a Christian book shop on Liskeard Fore Street (it’s called Dunamis), is a pretty big selection of albums to dig through. Picked up the records below, but was shocked how expensive most of the stuff they had was.(not far off prices you would expect to see in that London). Worthwhile couple of hours though, but had to work had to keep conversation away from all things Jesus.

I have the Grand Puba record with the sampled hook of the song by the same name and the R’n’B cover by Jomanda - now I finally nabbed a 45 of the OG version for a reasonable price. Even including a picture cover.

That JL Ponty album has one of the best solos in the history of bass guitar, courtesy of mr. Ralphe Armstrong, who is also responsible for the ‘yell’ in Massive Attack’s Unfinished Sympathy:

If anyone is interested this is getting a much needed repress. The original on prescription is a gem. Now hard to get hold of for a sensible price. Incredible music. Coming out mid January.
