Thx some lovely Human @Shane being who posted this album on this fair forum and was listening last night bought the C.D straight away as it’s superb.
Late Night Tales:
David Holmes
… and contemporary Japanese brilliance made up with field recordings from onsens in the town of Beppu. How could I resist?
…obi strip for boss level points too.
Modern Romance ridiculous? Salsa Rappsody dub discomix is great!
Picked this one up last week. Cheap too. All about b1-Harmonic, kind of thing wouldn’t be out place on that Virtual Dreams comp.
Arrived this morning, Royal Mail managed to mash up the corner despite it being well packed. In my recent experience they are no better than all the other couriers these days. Still, looking forward to giving this a listen later today, nice overall package ![]()
Picked up a nice copy of Power, Corruption and Lies last week which I then proceeded to leave on the train home, never to be seen again.
However, I do feel I’ve increased the happiness in the universe by gifting that to someone😚
This came a week or so ago but I was away and Mrs J_C had a major tidy and put it somewhere and couldn’t remember where, so I only just got to play it!
Mine came when I away 2 weeks & ago & this reminded me Ive not opened it
(dont tell the Weatherall lot espec as a good mate was one of the ‘curators’)
Oh man. Come With Me is so good ![]()
Got this on the way, nice downtempo acid track, great synthy b side as well.
New Quiet Village with Vanessa Daou on vox delivered whilst we were away, so good. Deep as fuck.
i’ve been kind of going apeshit lately, i hope i’m ok.

100% silk is starting to turn into one of my favorite labels. this one was just too good.
https://www.discogs.com/release/26568134-Akasha-System-Phytopia
why not, if you’re ordering one akasha system record from bandcamp, might as well order two. apparently this guy used to live in portland but moved to florida. portland’s not for everyone!
https://www.discogs.com/release/13593446-Bartosz-Kruczyński-Baltic-Beat-II
a long time want, the first baltic beat was so good. found one at a good price and bit. so evocative of a time and place, one i can listen to repeatedly and find new things every time.
https://www.discogs.com/release/33127794-Mytron-Zongamin-Congregate
i was late to the multi culti bandwagon, but i’m here now. like akasha system, sort of the child of those 1992 sounds and vibes. roland machines for akasha system, world percussion sample cd’s for multi culti.
https://www.discogs.com/release/35069345-Quiet-Village-Vanessa-Daou-Naked-Hunger
been a fan of vanessa daou for a long time so this was an easy purchase, but this really holds up. fuckin’ deep. i like the “spoken word” mix best. long, but doesn’t feel long.

https://www.discogs.com/release/33531600-Ron-Trent-Lift-Off-Part-Two
i had a bunch of credit at further, so i used it on the extremely too expensive ron trent album. i streamed it a bunch of times, and knew i’d be mad at myself if i didn’t buy a physical copy. all told, this was an $80 album, but i know i’ll get my money’s worth out of it in the long run.
https://www.discogs.com/release/125-2nd-Shift-Featuring-Heather-Somethin-Else
a nice lil’ cheapie found at daybreak. i loved these 2nd shift records, and heather’s dry spoken voice really is a chicago house subgenre of it’s own.
https://www.discogs.com/release/33607779-Lexx-Into-The-Stream
lexx can do no wrong. his records always sound thick & luxurious. lol i sound like a shampoo commercial.
https://www.discogs.com/release/34170811-Simon-Herody-Hard-Lounge
i don’t remember where i first heard this, but i love it. jazz, but like a jazzier layer over some classic roland boxes. one i streamed so many times, and finally had to buy it.
https://www.discogs.com/release/34646266-Ocean-Moon-Shimmering-States
i didn’t expect to like this as much as i did. atmospheric, but in a compelling way, and more than just washes of sounds.
https://www.discogs.com/release/34267066-Stephen-Vitiello-with-Brendan-Canty-and-Hahn-Rowe-Second
sort of post-rock, sort of kraut, sort of neither of those things. i like the balmat label - i’m not yet at the point where i buy all of them, but the ones i have, i’m enthusiastic about.
https://www.discogs.com/release/34171507-Space-Dimension-Controller-Six-Beginnings-EP
another one that didn’t grab me the first time, and then i gave it another shot and fell in love with it. again, 1992 b12 vibes and catchy motifs that make it one to go back to.
https://www.discogs.com/release/320972-Torch-Song-Dont-Look-Now-P2e-Remix
another used find, and a mix of P2E that i didn’t have yet.
more stuff on the way, too!
oh yeah, a couple more that arrived today.
https://www.discogs.com/release/31808615-Alan-Sparhawk-White-Roses-My-God-
haven’t listened to this yet but i’ve been a fan of low since “i could live in hope”. i like it when al goes a little lo-fi electronic, like he did with his hospital people side project. i’m sure i’ll like this too.
got this but it’s warped to fuck, so it’ll get sent back. dawn has such a lovely voice - this is a sort of unusual pairing, it feels like a rare thing to have that textural ambient/jazz/modern classical paired with someone who can belt out r&b bangers with the best of them. loved the record before this one and i’m sure i’ll love this one too if i can get a nice flat copy.
and then this one arrived today:
https://www.discogs.com/release/15932526-Global-Communication-7614
really wish i would have bought this when it came out, loved it forever and was holding out for an original with the embossed cover. but a NM one of those would set me back quite a bit. so, i went with a repress and it sounds lovely. felt like a “must have”.
Its a beautiful record innit
