I’d missed that the Delia Derbyshire had been repressed, thank you!

Wicked lp
Virtual dreams finally arrived along with the Benedek Mr Goods LP on L.I.E.S.
Grabbed this 2014 gem given 2021 reissue - very tasty indeed.
“ Disco-formatted and world-fusioned four tracker with hints of Finnish-Prog-Rock, Jazz and New Age by Helsinki’s Jesse. Last track being the burner on this EP, “Keke Rullaa”, a blissfull balearic pearl with mediterranean guitar, soft glow and afro-beating rhythms embedded in a dynamic 9 minute narration.”
a couple more I grabbed yesterday.
I will buy anything Alex Albrecht puts out. His unique take on music via nature sounds and field recordings mixed into his warmly familiar creations are always sublime.
“Under the moniker Melquiades, Australia’s Alex Albrecht has released music for Scissor & Thread and his own Analogue Attic Recordings imprint - to great acclaim. His sound emanates in improvisations from the deeper fringes of dance and electronic. Able to find a jazzy quality in the sounds of the natural world, his subtle blend of ambient, electronica, and deep house has a nineties ethereal element.”
another Albrecht related 12" - this one on his essentual analogue attic label from Melbourne producer Adam McCoy, aka Citizen Maze.
Something completely different from 2018 but new to me - I was thrilled to find this album in a local store more known for stocking DIY punk/experimental sounds by a cat called Alleyes Manifest. Totally hazed out blunted hip hop, R&B, psychedelic with a house cut thrown in for good measure - my kind of rap.
Trying to build up my Balearic collection so called into Vinyl Exchange today whilst in Manchester city centre & picked up these 2
Then when i got home a copy of this i’d ordered was waiting for me ![]()

Listening to it now, eating pizza, as the sun pours through the window ![]()
New Vera Dvale album, a beautiful thing
Stasis re-issue on Fencepiece, missed it first time round
Sotofett & Jimi Tenor soundclash
New Kai Alce on NDATL…deep house masterclass
I have two recommendations I bought the last days.
For the first one huge s/o to the London guys called Merchant for sharing a terrific selection via “Bside” Soundcloud channel yesterday. It’s a wrongly overlooked Canadian Disco gem by Pete Richards. The album goes for much money but maybe you’ll get lucky and grab a 12’’ EP of the song as I did.
The second one is a very recent release by Alex Kassian on Pinchy & Friends. Blissful melodic open air house. Available in all common online (& hopefully offline) record stores.
That benedek lp is the best thing on lies for a while.
felt like i needed the dopamine hit of new records on the doorstep so i ordered
and
to fill a couple of holes in the collection, and why not? they are both great.
Took a trip over to Sifter’s Records (of Mr Sifter, by the very unbalearic Gallagher bros, fame) today, it was good to see he was still going & had survived Lockdown 3.
Had a bit of an AOR/Balearic blowout, buying albums by : Chris Rea (of course), Jon & Vangelis, Christopher Cross, Alan Parsons Project (x3), Vangelis, Kid Creole, China Crisis, William Orbit & 12"s by T Connection, Chic & Jan Hammer + the mighty ‘Yes Sir I Can Boogie’ by Baccara on 7".
Not bad for 32 quid.
just picked up a copy of this:
Sounding excellent.
Yeah not bought any of their stuff apart from that recently
Pre-ordered Moodymann’s LP today. Think it’s the first pre-order I’ve ever placed. After missing out on the last two releases I wasn’t taking any chances. Even the bloody pre-order has sold out
repressed for those like me missed it first time round
Harvey Couture and Hillside LPs, Matthew Halsall - Oneness
