Whats the last record you bought?

This was one I discovered during years back and it came on via a playlist when I was travelling home from London last week. I just remember feeling so many emotions and nostalgia in the moment so I decided to order it

been on a bit of a muslimgauze tear lately. love that the extreme stuff is finally getting vinyl presses. plus, buying from soleilmoon is a true pleasure.

Kinky, downtempo ambient and jazz, boosted with fructose and bound for bedrooms, by Kikifruit, a french illustrator, musician, and owner of Astral Soda label

Originally issued as ’Surfing Hobo Botherhood’ in 2023 on their own label in edition of only 25, Albinos’ ‘Bamboo Night’ now reaches a wider audience via Swiss label WRWTFWW, who’ve juiced the best bits and “added some ice, a slice of orange and a splash of rum” for this maiden vinyl version.

Perhaps a little late to soundtrack summer in our hemisphere, the eight track can nevertheless be relied upon for an RDA of vitamin sunshine. They hustle a smouldering, sun-dazed verve that lands easy on mind, strafing from the whispered Japanese vox, erotic sax and downstroke groover ’Topaze’, to a gently bubbling ‘Bamboo Night’, taking in their stride the panpipe house of ’Suburbia Girl’, and DJ Sprinkles-esque ‘West Gate Park’ and ‘Mystic Rain’, to the warm electrosoul embrace of ‘Honda Civic’.

Are you London based by any chance? I’ve put on Jeffrey Silverstein’s two London shows with Bobby Lee and Joe Harvey-Whyte over the last couple of years, don’t know if you caught one? Amazing gigs.

Was gutted to miss these. Any plans for another one?

Need to listen to that one!

Not right now, depends on Jeffrey being able to come over and stuff but not out the question for sure! Might do a Bobby solo show or with Joe in the not too distant future though.
