Reckon it was about 10% blokes, if you take the dads with young daughters out maybe a lot less. The two girls behind us, maybe 11 and 7, screamed most of the way through and sang everything, in tears, the whole lot. Good luck to them, they were having the night of their lives - as were loads of others.
Was a great gig overall, even though I’m not a super fan, went to the bar/loo/merch during the folklore section. Started at 6:30 and finished just before 10, some stint…
Tried to post a video of the blokes with the stand up piano doing a chaz n Dave style version of No No Limits. But it won’t let me post it for some reason. Funny times. Mind you that walk up to the tent got pretty tricky later on….
this will probably read more like a brag than anything else, but whatevs.
spent the last three days in the forest of the idaho panhandle. my ex (whom i’m obviously on good terms with) married a guy who is more than a little wealthy, and he built his dream retreat on a large chunk of land near the priest river inna luxury style, all mod cons.
a small group - friends and family that go back 30+ years, went up to celebrate my ex’s 50th. loads of great food, great “festivities” (IYKYK), and great music. i watched a moose and her baby traverse the river. i saw millions of stars. i watched a massive storm come through that rained and hailed and thundered and lightning’d so hard on the metal roof that we couldn’t hear each other talk. nineteen year old me could have never imagined that 50 year old me could experience such a thing.
this area of idaho is fuckin’ rural - and i have a fear of the red states. the panhandle is famous for all the wrong reasons. but as a born & bred PNWer - among all these trees, mountains and water, i’ve rarely felt more at home.
in the pitch black, among the stars, i broke out a few tracks that fucking slayed. perfect moments.
We have a night out on Saturday with a small, good crew the guy doing the music asked me to send a few hidden gems… should just link him to the floaty bangers thread…
no active fishers in the house, but no reason not to try. i’ve always enjoyed watching people fly fish - it looks amazingly difficult, and much more like a dance than an activity when done well. the water is clear and cold - we talked about tubing it but i think we were all either too high or too lazy.
