I loved Adrian Sherwood last night. I couldn’t figure out in advance how it would work at the Barbican but I thought it was great. The sound top notch - so much better than when he played at Earth a couple of years ago - and the visuals endlessly engrossing. The combination of live musicians with him on the stems and layering on FX worked really well. A proper psychedelic dub stew. Impressive that he’s still pushing forward after all these years. Early contender for gig of the year

The SOUND was the thing, all-enveloping, at times overwhelming but never painful (my ears were fine afterwards). Just the perfect setting for an act like that. And the visuals were beautiful, so well crafted to each track.
Also I was surprised how much I enjoyed being seated, no-one treading on my toes, no tall blokes standing in front of me, no phones and no trying to get into the music over other people’s conversations!

Absolutely. I normally don’t like sitting down at gigs but having a really comfy seat, a great view and a really engrossing audio-visual show that just engulfed you was perfect last night!

I only got in towards the end of their set so missed most of it. What I saw was much more full on than what I’d heard online!

This sounds awesome. I think given the right gig and venue I wouldn’t mind a seat either sometimes for all of the reasons you listed.

Some serious house fire going on in room 2 about 2ish. But tbh it was great from start to finish. Thanks for the guy and the proper nice crew getting my girlfriend in! My memory fails me in remembering their names!

Was slightly less into last 45 tbh, but was a bit ‘fatigued’. Big disco numbers and I can’t recall ‘em.
Mark Treadwell who I confess I’m not familiar with and I dipped in/out was playing some quite heavy, trippy stuff at times that seemed to scare a few people off😂 Was a good counterpoint to room one tho. I do recall him dropping Jackson Jones- I feel good’ (fantastic), Steve Monite instrumental, then Human league - Things that dreams are made of’ at the end

Mark is also known as Namedrop and usually plays with Benoit. But Benoit couldn’t make it so he played alone. . Loved what he played and how he played it. It was a really patient, unrushed set. Gutted I didn’t stay until the end as that sounds a great finale. Thought he might have played Eden/Free at the end.
