Shall be at LoveVinyl on Saturday playing a few records in memory of my good friend Richard who is very sadly missed.
I remember meeting him (Iām sure it was him, total Faith geezer from South London?) in Croatia one year. Heād basically taken over the top floor of the hotel we were staying in like an acid house Colonel Kurtz. He only ventured downstairs when Brewster dropped in. What a character.
Yep Certainly sounds like our Richard. Lived life to the fullest. Miss him dearly. Lifelong mates. The life and soul of many a party. Heās probably pestering Mr Ayers right now for a go on his vibraphone!
ALFOS in Margate on Saturday if any of you lot are about.
Cadet here, reporting for duty!
Have you been before ? Strangeish place
Went last year with load of mates, great time
We stayed in a great airbnb which was an old grand terrace house next to station with sea view
It was previously a BnB for builders (Ā£20 / night)
No, big gang of us going, looking forward to it.
Have been to Margate but not the venue.

I really fancy this manana: Legowelt in San Sebastien. Synthesizers, dancing and top munchies. The holy trinity! Bit of a schlep down there, but surely worth the effortā¦ā¦
Looks fun. Speaking of synthesisers just remembered this now sadly closed bar in San Sebastian. The ownerās commitment to a late 80ās eurodisco soundtrack - the really banging and very questionable xyz / best of italo disco 88 cds kinda stuff - made for a much enjoyed and amusing cocktail experience. I think his other passion was shark fishing. I donāt think you can ask for more from a bar owner can you?

Itās such a beautiful and totally quirky town. Itās always reminded me of the Atlanticās version of Hawaii. Hard to explain, but very green, laidback and hills dropping into the ocean.
In for this with wife and some of her friends(Thanet locals). Iāve never been and the last time my wife went was back in the 80ās when it was some cheesy disco(She thinks). Will try and be on best behaviour as taking Mother in Law out for lunch the next day.
And David Holmes tonight at The Social. Iām probably getting too old for this kind of thing
Tickets for Meltdown released today. Little Simz is curating. The Streets are on the line up.
Mid June 2025.
Yes! The Faith In Strangers site was indeed a dodgy disco in a past incarnation, Frankās. Spent a fair few evenings in there. It was one of the only places to go so we Thanet types didnāt have a huge choice.
FiS look like theyāre doing great things. Looking forward to checking it out. Havenāt yet made it back down there.
(Also, fun fact: it was also home to the Cliftonville bowling lanes where friends of mine used to play in the weekly league. They named themselves - iirc - The Sick Pigs, just for the lols of having the name read out over the tannoy.)
I only ever went out in Kent once. La Parisienne in Folkstone⦠Nu-Margate it was not
That was it. She said it might be Franks but couldnāt quite remember. Weāre London based now but been wanting to go for a while. Looking forward to it.
Cracking ALFOS. Tomorrow Never Knows too, a great moment. A Once In A Lifetime cover by a girl band/female vocal, any clues?
You might he right there, still piecing things back together
Iām attending (and playing ) the Balearic Burger party on 14 June at McChuills in Glasgow. Also on the line-up are Trevor Fung and Psychederek. I know some of the arbitary rules of their FB group are not very popular on here, but it should still be a fun day out.
Unfortunately im doing a 10k race the following day, so will be keeping it sensible(ish!)
