Went to the first couple of hours of Good Times on the terrace at Alexandra Palace as it was on my doorstep. Some nice hip hop and soul played early doors with a bit of disco thrown in. Good venue and lovely vibe although pretty sparse on numbers to begin with. Popped out to watch the football which thankfully coincided with Norman swerving into funky house territory…Was planning to return for the end but foiled by the pisstake no readmission policy!

Anyone want to go to Beyond The Wizard’s Sleeve DJ set at Moth Club, Hackney on Friday? I bought two tickets ages ago but I’m not in the frame of mind for it.

Just got an email saying the Art of Noise gig is cancelled. Shame. Odd to do so far in advance, hope not a health issue.

I keep walking past a poster in the tube, advertising a live gig and thinking “need to take a photo of that for the TP forum as someone there will want to go…”

Uber balearic poster, the photo os black and white.
Sort of Ryuichi Sakamoto/YMO early 80s vibe.
And I was thinking - it’s that band that did Dancehall Days that DJH people used to like…

I was getting annoyed with myself for forgetting as I’m only in town once a week max at the moment - and would be gutted if the show was over and I forgot to post.

Anyway.
Looked more closely today - it’s Wing Chun - A martial arts exhibition. Not the balearic guys at all!
False alarm…

‘‘Hacienda’’ at Wollaton Park Nottingham match report
As on door step had to go & saw a lot of old faces out
Soul II Soul were OK & nice to hear all hits inc Fairplay live
Graeme P - Bit early on bill for him. Lots of new remixes of classics or songs that sample them that my daughter likes ( Lisa Lisa Beat Hit em chords on repeat) As he is an adopted son of Nottingham went down well
Cece Rogers - Most looked fwd to when on bill was awful. Fast Funky House version of All Join Hands / Cabaret cover of EW&F September / Move Your Body (??) / another go at All Join. Got turned off as was late running & didnt do Somebody
808 State - Ones I hadnt thought about were the best - Full on live rave sounding, version of Pacific & finished with an almost punk ( bass guitar) version of Cubik
Tenaglia - Did the big room stuff really well, few big crowd pleasers & ended on Those Guys Tonight ( more pumping version but not that pumping if you know what I mean)
Ultranate - Your Free & Found a Cure singalong
Roger Sanchez - But too contrived festival set but by the end didnt care

Think I heard Armands Spin Spin Sugar at least twice & maybe 3 x!!

Nothing musically ground breaking but enjoyed a local night out dancing outside
