Ironically, the heavier the denim, the greater the chance of blowout due to all those bacterial nasties nestling deep within your 22oz crotch.

I always thought the crotch blowout was due to mechanical friction rather than bacterial infestation of the threads.
Something that should be tested really. If you were to roll downhill without pedalling would you still get a crotch blowout?
