The very best sounding/pressed Jazz tunes I have are on 10". Also lots of great reggae has been released on 10’s, but I know what you mean about them being the misfit in the rack. I have a friend who gets all squirley when he see’s 10’s on a record shelf.
You cant file them with the 12s and LPs - they have to go at the front of the pile
I like records of all sizes. If you’ve got brilliant music on them, what’s the problem? If you’ve not got brilliant music on them, buy better records.
The record which officially changed the course of my life was 5 and 3/4 inches.
I’d quite like some other sizes. Those really little ones are cool.
going through the bi-yearly phase of “all my music is shit and I need a complete re up of fresh hot stuff”
completely irrational. ![]()

I just heard an absolutely disgusting edit of ’Normalizo’ on Bandcamp.
Give that a listen and your irrational thoughts will be gone!
Edits can get in the bin an’ all!
Eddie C’s was ok but they are generally a bit pointless on a track that is pretty much flawless
I’m inclined to agree. Last ALFOS it was lame edit after lame edit after lame edit. Really didn’t do it for me.
They’re inevitably about the past. But really you want to be hearing tunes from the future. Or some cosmic stuff that beams you into another dimension. Probably speaking for myself their mind!
Hmm, that’s slightly my recognition of the last set I heard. I can’t remember what the original was, but do remember thinking ‘omg is this where we’re at/why am I hearing an edit of that?!’
Granted there are some tastemakers out there turning out some great reworks, but the majority of the time it’s just disco tunes that didn’t need editing being turned into house records, slapped with a 4x4 and a massive drop, flattening what made the original so special in the first place. Sayonara nuance.

I have good friend who is like this so bad that she doesn’t even get invited to her own families gatherings be it Kids party, BBQ or even out for dinner with friends… Feel really bad for her husband and kids, even they don’t bring school friends over to the house anymore because she would just go off on some rant if she heard any trigger words…
I could count on one hand the edits that endured for me beyond introducing me to the OG music. Perfectly fine for me as a DJ tool though.
Yeah this exactly. I find 7”s really, really annoying.
That’s Saucy Lady based out here in Boston. Her and her husband U-Key take the doing covers of records route in and amongst their originals. They’re good people and I think what needs to stop is shit edits, and I think we can all agree on that.
I like 7"s, especially those with picture sleeves. Each to their own.
I’ve got 3,000 plus records of which about 30 are 7”s. Fiddly things, never liked them.
my first ever records were all 7s: aha sun always shines on tv, rolling stones harlem shuffle and vangelis chariots of fire - will one day find another use for them ![]()
My first record was possibly by Shakin Stevens, or Madness? But I like to think it was Chaka Khan, but that wasnt ’till ‘83.
Either way, fiddly little things😂
