What don't you get

Yeah, I never tire of it and I tear up at the museum scene every time. I was visiting a friend in Lake Forest, IL last year and was getting major Ferris Bueller vibes. I mentioned this and my friend agreed and pointed at a massive pile saying “John Hughes lived here for years…”

The Ferris Bueller chat reminded me of this LTJ Bukem favourite, with the “life moves pretty fast…” sample

One off D&B alias of Tom Middleton + Mark Pritchard. Strange they never followed it up given how good it is.

Watched it recently with my late teens daughter and quite enjoyed it. I’m sure I read something (probably suggested here) that it’s about Cam processing his grief after his mum dies?

I find myself increasingly sympathising with the teacher as I get older …

being named cameron myself, i have long had the world’s easiest halloween getup.

detroit redwings jersey, khakis and a flat-billed cap. sooner or later someone will ask “so what are you dressed up as?”, to which all i have to say is “have you seen ferris bueller’s day off?”

it usually clicks instantly.

I don’t like any of the BEE film adaptations and I’m a big BEE fan generally. In fact, I’d add the film version of American Psycho to this thread.

Fun fact - the Kirsty listed label is Kirsty Hawkshaw of Opus III (probably common knowledge tbf). Interesting that they went under the Chameleon moniker to release a track called “Links” but then went under the alias of Link to release further DnnB explorations.

They’re remaking it with Austin Butler, i believe? I think he’s a good choice.

You might not like their music or their shoes or whatever but they seem to understand the definition of modernism better than sixties throwbacks like Freeman Weller etc

This will conclude my reevaluation of Seaford Mods.
I have studiously avoided them up until recently and can’t say I like their music very much but have seen a few interviews/videos recently and am now even looking at getting a ticket for their brighton gig next month.

They’ve done a few tracks where the music has been alright but then his vocals come in and for me it’s just so on the nose it instantly turns me off. I dunno it seems so try hard…

Another thing that they have in common with MOD is they never moved on. They haven’t changed stylistically in 15 years

Lyrically I think they’ve said a lot that’s relevant to real people’s lives in the last 15 years.

Not a particular fan musically but the lyrical themes/the work they did with Cold War Steve etc says a lot more about the state of the uk than most do

There’s listening bars and then there’s this stuff, which I confess I just don’t really get. Generally I find people talking to an audience in hushed tones about records pretty boring … everyone remember to take your shoes off and listen in reverential silence … and stroke yer chin to some deeep jazzzzz. Surely the temptation must be to break wind violently during a quiet passage, just for the LOLZ.

I’d love to hear the system, playing something I’m familiar with. Confess I quite liked the Charlie Dark one.
