What don't you get

Still have a soft spot for the first album but they were terrible live at Brixton Ac (2003) & I lost interest. A shame really as I think Skinner had the potential to become a really tuned in poet but the laddish schtik won out

schtik is right.
A mate shared a flat with him in the early days and he was def a bit more nice middle class than he wanted to come across - not so much street in the Streets as it were.
I did like him tho.

Bit heavy for TP, but makes me angry why the DHSC can’t now track and try to recover the £39m profit Mones and Barrowman et al. made from the £122m the government paid for faulty PPE gowns. If it was us they would seize our assets and chase us till they had it all…records, decks etc. gone!

On a lighter note:

NCA already frozen around £75 million assets of theirs. Criminal investigation still ongoing

Thanks. Didn’t know that. Good. BBC News article today didn’t mention that - very poor journalism - but I see NCA did that in Feb. Let’s see where it goes.

Heard that last night and even by John Lewis/M&S cover version standards it was very shit indeed.

Did think it sounded like him but did not expect it to actually be him.

I liked the first album but was very much of its time and he rinsed that gimmick to death. I got the feeling it mostly appealed to people who had limited interactions with the lifestyle he was writing about. Bit like how poshos loved Parklife.

Yeah, I’m sure he’s a nice enough fella and fair enough he’s doing his thing, making a living etc, just never someone I could imagine deliberately listening to. That ‘Fit but you Know it’ was quite funny but other than that….

His book is a pretty good read. A sharp mind.

I can’t hear The Streets without instantly thinking of MC Pittman’s line about him in Witness The Pitness.

one of my funniest experiences on MySpace was when I posted something about how Sleaford Mods reminded me of Pitman and then later that night, the guy out of Sleaford Mods sent a whole load of abuse in a PM “I’m NOT fucking Pitman you cunt”. (the next day he did apologise for being a bit refreshed…)

why do all the items I want for my kitchen cost so much? This pan is 122 pounds, Anybody here own expensive pots and pans and is it worth spending the $$ for a standard home kitchen?

Le Creuset is worth the spend

We got some Lecresuset as a wedding present 22 years ago but the best deal I ever got was a set of 4 saucepans and a skillet in the same blue out of the Friday-Ad for £15!
Love the cast iron, keeps the heat, goes in the oven, easy to clean (we’ve never had a dishwasher, washing up is an opportunity to bond, kids )

I think that you buy them once and they last the rest of your life. Thats my experience of ones I’ve bought in the early 2000’s. I just bought one or two at a time and you don’t really need too many.

Worth every penny. I’ve still got a Le Creuset casserole pot that is 21 years old and showing no signs of not lasting another 21 years. I had some pans that lasted around 15 years.

lost my le creuset dutch oven in the divorce. i’ll absolutely get another one.

cookware is expensive, but i think it’s worth the spend. knives, pots & pans, and a few choice appliances really make the difference.
