What don't you get

So increase demand by marketing it as a Limited edition and not available digitally and only available exclusively at Phonica (and SOTU, Rough Trade, Bandcamp etc etc) then when demand is suitably increased make it available digitally and unlimited and not exclusive. I get it now.

Well they got me.

Well i dunno I don’t work for the company. Just playing devils advocate don’t know all the details

Good record from the clips I heard.

You can’t really expect someone called Crooked Man to to be on the level

Hmmmm, I get that the popularity of the track might of taken them by surprise and, given the state of the music industry, I can’t get too mad about them wanting to fulfil that demand. But I think there might have been better ways of going about it. Maybe releasing a radio edit digitally and pressing up a different (non “promo”) version of the record.

I suppose they wanted to strike whilst the iron was hot. However when presented as above, it looks a bit shady.

And just to put paid to any suggestion that they were unsure about the initial demand…

“500 vinyls” :unamused:

DJ’s…

Still available at these exclusive stores and has been for the last two weeks. Are they struggling to sell 500? Or have they made more?

The pressing is poor in my opinion very quiet and crackly throughout, both no good for a track like “It must be love” or any for that matter.

Fortunately it is available digitally :joy::person_facepalming:

Mine sounds fine tbh

Mine arrived the same day the digital appeared on their bandcamp and remains sealed as I only bought it to go thru the faff of ripping it as I believed the bull about no digital release.

I am bloody livid, will be waiting in the hope that I can get my $ back selling it, and will be waiting further for the digital to be leaked as these cnuts do not deserve any more of my money

I think you’d have a strong case under the mis-selling of goods act. They’ve misrepresented the availability in almost every way possible.
I’d be surprised if a major label would act so dishonestly for fear of being sued but I’d naively think an independent would be more authentic.
I guess they’re not.

Probably - with the same blurb about availability on all the websites they wouldn’t be able to put the blame on the shops.
The misrepresentation is blatantly for one reason - to inflate the price so they can trouser an extra tenner on each record. I always thought of Ross as one of the good guys.

Yes but these vinyls are for dj’s and they WILL sell out.

I bought an Italian Flying Records record bag in Florence in the 90’s. I liked size of the bag but it had “For DJ’s Only” printed on the front flap. Nothing that a strip of gaffer tape couldn’t hide.
That kind of thing was lame in the 90’s let alone from an indie record label in 2025.

Nothing to do with us Flying Italy

Different company

Absolutely, i wasn’t suggesting that at all. Should’ve made that clear. :+1:

Earnest DJ social media posts about how “blessed” they’re feeling after a good gig, or how a track means so much to them. Every time I go on Instagram there seems to be at least 2 or 3 at the top of my feed, does my head in.

At least it’s a great deterrent that stops me wasting my time on there, as when I log in and see a load I instantly close the app.

Must admit that I’m guilty of doing one or two of these posts in the past.

I thought the same
Could you argue upfront exclusive means we got a day early ( but a pre release)
I bought mine from SOTU as they did have exclusive on Earth Angel
I would have still bought one from Bandcamp & enjoyed the DLs as well

I get supporting record shops bit this feels a bit…

I might ask VC for DLs
