What don't you get

Not my thing at all, never was, but not something worth getting wound up about either imo.

With crowds that big they arent just selling to the stereotypical bucket hat goons. It’ll be a load of people who like Wonderwall + the other big singles but dont have as much interest in the later albums and all the rest of it.

Prime example, my wifes friend is taking her 16 yr old daughter + friend.

Think it’s Paul Gallagher on warm up deck duties, so at least Paul’s getting some work out of it lol.
Peggy will be happy.

The Stone Roses could never have had international success on a sustainable basis. American audiences especially wouldn’t have put up with Ian Brown’s (for the most part) woeful live singing voice

I lived in India House in Central Manchester at the same time in the 90s as Liam and or Noel. And i had no idea. And to be honest i was a snob about all bands at the time but also being from an Irish and working class background i was very uninterested in seeing the gobshite side of that life amped up and turned into something to sell - i’d seen enough drunken fights outside the Galtymore to not need to pay a couple of hundred quid to see a parody of it on stage. (also they both weigh about 10 stone sopping wet so unless theyve got some Barry McGuigan style power locked in those tiny frames, then i also found that notion of them as being hard men to be risible)

thats exactly why they’re doing it, his ex wife who used to go out with Jon Carter (pre Sara Cox) rinsed him massively. Noels doing it for the money alone and he left Liam to pick all the support bands and basically put it together. this is the final tour supposedly but I imagine once they see the amount of money they can make from it there may be a rethink

Here in the US, the Roses are the United fans team, and City fans obviously get Oasis.

The world is in the toilet at the moment, and folk are really struggling. Oasis have injected a bit of nostalgia and escapism into the country for a few weeks and if people want to get swept up in it, leave them to it I say. Its churlish to have whinge about it. Have to agree though, the Gallaghers are absolutely rinsing it! Cant blame 'em though can you?

a very Fair point and i hope this doesnt come across as chippy, but as one of the possible nominated whingers, its also fair to point out not liking something isnt the same as whinging about it. this site is full of enthusiasm for all kinds of things but this one solo thread is explicitly about ‘what you don’t get’ and its absolutely fine to not get things, including Oasis, whether they’re rinsing it or not. Labubu’s are also rinsing it and i dont get them either nor would i go see them play.

David Stubbs is Oxbridge alumni. I can’t help but think a bit of this is punching down.

The Oasis thing from over here feels a bit like the Titanic band going down with the dystopian liner, or as a mate said, “The last hospital visit for a country with only weeks left to live”. Sorry but I am British, so I’m allowed.

Is he? With that education you’d expect a better insult than the tired old Beatles comparisons every other hack and his dog has used for the last 3 decades.

I’m amused by the fact he’s pretending he’s not really bothered when it’s obviously boiling his piss.

I’ve been an oasis fan since I was about 12, after seeing the live forever video on the Saturday chart show on itv one Saturday morning.

Seen both brothers after, in their guises from beady eye to the solo stuff, which was really middle (or bottom) of the road dross. tho the first side of the nghfb album that holmer produced was some of the best stuff noels ever done imo.

I was too young to young to see the roses and when they came back it was a total let down seeing them. The tribute bands id seen were actually better.so I wish oasis have left it where it was…I didn’t bother getting a ticket for the tour as nostalgia isn’t what it used to be. But I heard the version of slide away they released from Cardiff last weekend and there’s something about the two of them together that just hits the spot (if Ur into that kind of thing ). Considering cashing in on some of my stuff now tho, first pressings of definitely maybe and wtsmg going for big money, I’ve even got an epiphone supernova union jack replica sitting in the roof space thats going for 2k on reverb :scream:. Could Upgrade my amp and speakers

Slide Away has always been my favourite, someone put together a great video of the Cardiff concert edited from fan footage and it’s surprisingly good, I didn’t expect much but they were way better than i thought they’d be.

Ir was definitely diminishing returns after Whats The Story…but those first 2 albums along with The Masterplan comp have some great stuff on imo.

I’m a big David Holmes fan but i’ve not heard the NG album he produced, i’ll have to have a listen online, I did dig out the first NGATHFB album the other day and gave it a spin and I still don’t like it, it’s so beige and dull compared to the early Oasis stuff.

this must be the time to do it surely when interest is high? I had a one sided copy of the Columbia promo which I traded in for a hefty chunk of UK deep house in the 90s.

I was given a demo tape of Definitely Maybe by a mate at uni who knew them well. Absolutely no idea where it is now…:see_no_evil:
