What don't you get

Todd Terry has been doing sets of just his own productions for years now. I remember him doing it in the early-2000’s.

He openly admits to not enjoying DJing, and sees it as a means to promote his own music while making a few shekels.

Not a chance in hell would I give up my time or money to see him.

Seems timely at this point…

A nice thought, nobody actually believes this is, or could ever be the case though, right?

If you did believe this, then why does it matter whether your music is made by AI, or a person any more?

As long as it does exactly what you want it to do, you can turn the dial marked “challenging” up a bit if it is too comfy for you, or down if you just want the same reliable things you already like. You could probably save some £££s by just removing the “challenging” dial for users over 25 though.

I’ve never understood the reverence he’s given as a producer although he clearly has plenty of hustle and as a result has been very successful in the music industry

The 99 problems record he did with Jay Z though highlighted that his production ideas hadn’t really progressed since Walk this Way, some 20 plus yrs earlier

That said though, It’s Yours by T La Rock still sounds amazing

Discogs sellers who list reissues as OG pressings, and instead of acknowledging and apologising, they remain adamant the item is an OG.

It ain’t. Refund pal!

there was a revealing passage in a Saturday supplement a year or two back, where he admitted he has a spreadsheet that tracks every sale across the planet and that he spends a hour or two gazing at it every day…

which I guess is all you need to know

Yep that pretty much sums it all up

Spectre staring at world domination.

the evil genius of the music industry over the last 20 years has been in nurturing a crop of modern troubadours who emote lots and yet say absolutely nothing. The bean counters quickly realised there was this huge market for ‘relatable’ kids in beanies and distressed jeans who tap the public with ‘heartbreak’… by creating earnest mood music that is always there, always irritating but never distinctive enough to mock or parody.

Very neatly summarised

Think we reached peak Ed Sheeran when he popped up as an extra in Game Of Thrones looking deeply awkard and out of place.
