Wan#er Magnets…

A guy I know had tix to Cleo Sol at Radio City NYC, took his parents to the show. Was accosted by security and served a trespass notice because the petulant billionaire owner didn’t like a shirt he designed nearly ten years ago.

all billionaires are garbage, but dolan is an embarrassment to billionaires. i say this as a life-long fan of the NBA, he’s hindered the growth of the game by making selfish, stupid and paranoid choices with what should be the crown jewel of the league.

if i was a blue chip NBA player, i’d play in charlotte or sacramento or utah before i played for him in NYC.

i realize how dumb this reads, as we all know billionaires are incapable of shame

Have you ever seen Dolan’s music videos?

He’s a fucking trust fund billionaire who owns the Knicks, but his true desire is to be a blues man. So he pays some music school grads or whatever to be his friends and play concerts. And make music videos. And force MSG staff to attend his concerts. Apparently, when the Eagles played MSG, he opened for them because of course he made them do it in order to play there.

The courage of these paid musicians to feign so well they are on his team and like and respect him. Great acting.

lol - yes i have. agony.

paul allen wasn’t much different in that he wanted to be a guitar hero (and would pay lots of money to get rock celebrities to jam with him on his yachts, etc.) - but i’m supposing that paul was genuinely scared of any public attention or potential teasing, so any tape or video of his rock star cosplay stays in the vault.

Ahh yeah there was a great clip of him jamming at EMP that was taken down sadly. He could actually play.

Paul had his faults but was a mensch in a lot of ways–not least of what he did for Seattle. Every year he would charter a cruise and a lot of family & friends would go along with celeb friends like Robin Williams and Carrie Fisher-a family friend of ours got to go and apparently Paul was awkward but lovely.

edit: bit of him playing at 0:45

i got hired to dj the opening of his EMP science fiction museum/HOF and met him then. he was polite and gracious, and i appreciated that (and got paid quite well). as a hardcore blazers fan, it took everything i had to not stop playing records and tell him all the things he needed to do with the team in order to win a championship.

my best pal worked for him for a while. some of the stories of the genuinely famous folks who seemingly glommed onto him for the full billionaire experience left me sort of sad for the guy (and embarrassed for the celebrities). but who knows, maybe he had oodles of hidden charisma and was a caring conversationalist.

This shit. Literally stuck an echo on a Kiki Gyan record and then are pushing it as theirs. Pointless.

That cover art as well…. very questionable.

Another reason not to get in one of these pools :flushed:

have you seen the new tiktok/instagram trend of going “vinyl for vinyl”? the kids do lil’ videos of them flipping through their record collections, basically just a show-off.

truth be told, i don’t mind this at all, if you’re gonna flex your possessions i’d rather it was records than most other things. and i don’t even care if a 19yo kid has 80 kanye records or whatever it may be. i do kind of laugh at the fact that it’s all new vinyl - the kind of stuff you can buy at a barnes & noble (if those still exist).

but i do think these kids with their tiny collections are kind of precious

…and all still sealed for the most part.

Play them and enjoy them kids.
