really insanely experimental ones as well, made by very unpretentious musicians who will never be adopted into the cannonical avant-garde.

like seriously what is this? way out there than most psych of the time.

This is ace. Is there a library and soundtrack thread? There should be. That and a thread for favourite 10”s for @dustyfingers

Library music is something I’ve never actually explored. Is there genuine gold out there? Like stuff people would dance to? I’ve perhaps wrongly seen it as the preserve of deep diggers trying to one-up other deep diggers.

I think @jolyon can give you a very solid answer on this one…

I would endorse that thread :grinning:

Also, forgot one from my list, so here’s another thread idea!

Extra silly because my favourite record of all time is Songs in the Key of Life

More gold than you could ever imagine! So much of the really good stuff is expensive, some of it insane prices, if you want to buy it on vinyl. Loads of good library reissued or digitally available. I’m not even close to being an expert though, there is just so much of it.

A couple of danceable ones off the top of my head.

Both tunes are new to me. Really like the Samba Street track.

That’s maybe how I’ve always seen it too. Solely being the preserve of the deep digger. Sometimes digging can just get a bit too obscure for me personally.
I kind of stereotype that and the self pressed lost album thing as being a bit overhyped. Possibly a very lazy assumption by me without having listened to a lot of any of it. Have liked some of the music posted in the Library thread though since I lobbed my hand grenade.
And I still really like my straight up dance music so I’m probably not coming at it all from the same angle as some.

Youtube ads are getting ridiculous!
I was just listening to Phreek / Weekend and half way through two car ads come on!
Never seen that before. It’s going too far.

Yeh it’s so annoying, I used to listen to the my analogue journal sets on YouTube which are great but there’s an advert like every 10 minutes or so.

I’ve recently watched the 3hr David Lynch Art life documentary and also the extended edition of Blue Velvet both on Youtube and not a single advert in either of them. So refreshing. I applaud the people who put up demonetised content.
I notice Prime are now including Ads in films even if you pay for a subscription.
Watching Cricket on TNT/Discovery and there is the same betting advert on between every over, it’s horrendous.

Library music is like any genre i guess, some absolute solid gold mixed in with loads of turds. I was pretty obsessed with it for a few years trying to find some of the classics at decent prices.

This one is ace and was heavily sampled on a Stones Throw (?) record if I remember correctly.

Rogerio Duprat did a KPM record which is cool.

turkish library music

there is no doubt that if you mix this under some jeff mills or basic channel it will feel like the club is undergoing some ancient ritual.

DAZN have ads on in a split screen sometimes during rounds of boxing. And ads on PPV shows is now the norm when they were ad free for years, does my head in.

I started a 10 inch thread a while back (four years ago, where has the time gone?!) A good 10 inches - Music - Test Pressing

Sorry @dustyfingers
