I love Liz Frazer’s voice but some of the production on their early stuff hasn’t aged well.
I can see how some of it comes across a little twee at times…

You had to be in UK in the 80s where wine bars where a sophisticated alternative to the pub ( which probably didnt sell wine & definitely didnt sell drinkable wine)
I get why people dont truly get Sade but at the time it was so different

I generally never liked Sade back in the day mainly due to massive over exposure, she was on in every shop and all day on radio one(which killed a lot of mid 80’s music for me), but I have come to love some of her stuff now with fresh ears, but easy does it.

Sade is quite a divisive topic in our household. My girlfriend absolutely cannot stand ‘loungey’ music which is deeply problematic when I’m in that mood

I was a teenage mod ticket who saw The Jam a dozen times so am slightly biased, but I’ve always thought getting these lyrics to #1 was hugely impressive.
Sadly just as relevant 45yrs later.
