That makes a lot of sense.
I thought it was brilliant. How can you not love that they burned copies of their album because of the ABBA lawsuit then took out adverts in the broadsheets trying to sell the burned copies?! ![]()

And who doesn’t love getting a dab of Sex Panther for a quid
Chill Out was alright, rest of it not for me.
The Tammy Wynette thing was appallingly bad. Maybe that was the point but it doesn’t make me like it any more I’m afraid
But of course to each their own
Maybe it’s pure nostalgia but in our circle growing up we loved the “big room” KLF sound and this one in particular. I still think it’s a total banger. Great video too.
I agree. Well ahead of the curve. Bill Drummond is a genius, imho (and a massive taker of the piss)
I guess I found it all a bit too ‘knowing’.
I think the fact that they divide opinion is a good thing-, better good versus bad than bland
I didn’t comment on or repost any of the Aussie break dancing memes. It was funny for about 2 days and like shooting fish in a barrel. What’s not so funny are the allegations now emerging about Raygun taking complete advantage of her position within the selection process and that this may have been some elaborate experiment for a university paper.
Ughh this is pretty much all memes these days funny for two days (“Hawk Tuah”, Raygun, Olympics shooters) and then morning-after remorse after posting as they wear out their welcome. It’s interesting to revisit early memes that are still have a bit of charm in them like the “Succulent Chinese Meal” guy.
I’m pretty convinced that it was done to garner and illustrate the cultural reaction, and to further her academic career. One thing is for sure, most of the globe is pissed about it and she really is not bothered in any way. This for me illustrates quite an odd mindset. My money is on her entering politics in Oz, perfect disconnect mindset and general ability to blame the public for whatever eventuates.
She will be totally upset by the response to her act and asking to be left alone by the end of the week
Yeah, I purposely avoided mentioning it as well due to my own history in the breaking community.
I ran into some of the b-boys i used to work with a few years ago and we were chatting about the upcoming Olympics. I got a strong feeling that almost everyone who had some tangential link with the scene/culture was milking it for all it was worth to try to get some sort of benefit from it. I was intro’d to someone who seemed to be working on some part of the organisation of it and i mentioned that DJ Format was happy to have his music used and wasn’t fussed about being paid or anything and was met with a slightly “erm… what’s in it for me though?” type of response.
The whole thing just felt like it was going to be exploited by bad actors.
I was glad to see that DJ Fleg was djing though, that guy really has put in the years and effort.
I was going to upload a bunch of my old B-Boy mixes from back in the day, but now i feel like it would just be embarrassing.
Made me laugh about the episode where 1 of FotC gets off & goes out with the Aussie girl
She had a barbie in her room!
You don’t even need to say where to skip to, just hit play and listen.
I did not have Ron Morelli down as someone who would be like this.
Might as well hit the self-destruct button. That’s L.I.E.S. finished.
Wow that’s pretty weird.
