What don't you get

Makes sense. Thanks.

You Tube video creators who start selling merchandise.

I don’t mind your hiking/wild camping videos mate, but do I want to buy a mug or a sweatshirt emblazoned with something that you said on one of your videos once, and user2086544dfx8 thought it was funny and ‘you should definitely make that your catchphrase’?

No. No. I don’t :grimacing:

They were funny for five minutes, then men of a certain age (Rough Trade types) started taking them seriously and egged them on.

McFlurry was quite enjoyable in a sub par The Fall kinda way.

I would in no way shape or form want to see them live. Ever.

They are brilliant live, I’ve seen them from the smallest rooms to arena size venues. The music has got better and more psychedelic as they’ve gone on. I also get why people dont like their stuff.

Read this the other day and this chilling line stuck with me:

Never shy about his fixation on sales (“I do have numerical targets,” he said in 2017, revealing he had data sheets emailed to him each week), he has been commercially diversifying from the get-go.

I ABSOLUTELY do NOT get how replies are displayed in this forum… is it just me? You can read a reply but it’s 100 percent not clear which comment it’s replying to…

Just click on the grey arrow next to the avatar in the corner.

Ok maybe I am being dense but there is no grey arrow here? is there?

No, but there is now. If the comment below the og post is responding, then no arrow. Otherwise, there will be.

At first glance looks like faintwaves is referring to someone else… :eyes:

Does anyone think DJing is an art? I’ve always seen it as a craft. And there’s no shame whatsoever in that.

it’s non binary & categorisation fluid!

Yeah fair point. I call it creative intuition. Reading the room, and connecting with the dancers etc, creating a vibe. This trumps technical skill and mixing prowess imo. I’d call that a craft for sure. The guy responding was a little dismissive and didn’t appreciate the creativity and skill, and its significance overall. He clearly plays an instrument of some kind. I sort of get his point though.

It’s like the OP is THE living authority, spouting words of wisdom for DJs. A rulebook if you will, and created a set of words to live by. “Hey what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” bullshit, at the tender age of 17.

At this point I’m just ranting and wishing I was young again . As you were.
