Had a bit of a reminisce this morning with an old friend who I used to go to clubs with.

Electric Chair, arguably the finest club night in Manchester. Ever.

Memories…

Thunderdome, Oldham Road, Miles Platting Mcr.

What a place this was, used to prefer into the hac. A right rum place, full of characters in a rough part of town.

It really was. The ritual pulling down of the camo netting. The crowd going bonkers to Shades of Jae. The night(s) Krivit played. Kelvin in the back room. Friendly faces everywhere.

Miss it.

Kelvin was a great resident DJ who rocked the shack every month. Wonder what he is doing now as I haven’t heard anything about him for ages.

Do you remember the bouncer with the tattoos all over his face and head?

Danny Krivit October 2005 was one of the best nights of my life - no exaggeration.

The camo net, yes, that was always the start of where the night got going for me. It got pulled down on more than one occasion to:

The Electric Souls parties they did as well were usually great nights too.

Oh yesssss! If there was ever a tune that represented the chair…!

Not sure what Kelvin’s up to. I knocked about with him for a while after the chair finished. I have a feeling he was doing a masters or phd at some point and was focused on that. He has a few shows up on NTS.

Danny Krivit - I was there that night too. I saw him in a few record shops on Thomas Street earlier in the day, and in Piccadilly Recs later on. I think I was completely awe struck at the time.

I’m sure he played this at some point, teasing out that second half:

Have no idea where to post this so I’ll just leave it here. Gilbert O’Sullivan does synth-pop. On German(?) TV.

There’s also a dub mix, obvs.

Was that the one they broadcast as an essential mix?

Used to love Kelvin and Jon K’s Eyes Down night at Band on the Wall (and the Roadhouse?). So many great nights, but remember Recloose playing was special.

He’s got another ā€œdown to the sea and backā€ comp out soon I believe. He did a radio production degree and has made some really good podcasts about club culture etc.

A bit of cardigan trivia, Gilbert was born and lived in Waterford, Ireland about 5 streets from my family home and in between his house and ours lived no other than Val Doonican…

That’s Kelvin Andrews though right?

Sorry, I meant Kelvin Brown .

Too many Kelvin’s!

Can’t wait for the new DTTTSAB comp though! Loved the first two.
