I was non-plussed by last week’s Severance episode. Felt like series padding and making an episode out of something that could have been a scene. Hope the last two episodes pull some of these fragments together…
Yeah it was pretty dull and very short. They do seem to be dragging it out a bit. Having more things in tandem like in series one would have been better.
Same - series 2 has felt like it’s dragging in places. Maybe ep 3 or 4, scene with Mark and Asal (dr ‘helping’ Mark) in the car - long pause and Mrs Carl a I were shouting ‘FFS!’. Happy for longer form to take it’s time when good, but we’re having doubts the pay-off will be worth it.
Chaos- the new Manson doc on Netflix…
MK Ultra, Acid, Haight Ashbury and some amazing old footage- really well made
Just finished Disclaimer and enjoyed it. Good story but I found the narration annoying. Kevin Kline and Cate Blanchett were great, agreed Saca Baron Cohen was very wooden.
This is an interesting but depressing watch
yeah wooden about sums him up
Just stumbled on this crazy story in the Apple TV archives, anyone seen it?
Yeah I watched that a few days ago, read the book as well a year or 2 ago which I liked but I thought the programme was more convincing. I think he’s onto something really, even though he can’t definitively find evidence of the doctor and Manson ever meeting.
Just watched the first episode of this. Blimey. Gripping stuff.
Yeah … such a strange and fascinating time in 20th century history… Manson, Zodiac, Altamont… the ‘wave crashing and rolling back’ to paraphrase Hunter S Thompson
I enjoyed the first one but struggled to see what the one-take thing added to the second episode. It felt like the “look at us, aren’t we clever” technical element came at the detriment of the issues the show wants to deal with. Apparently the third episode is the high-point.
Ashley Walters was excellent. Stephen Graham just whopped out a bit of the old Stephen Graham.
Five stars in the times too
Yeah, interesting. I love a one shot but it has to be deployed at the right time or it can feel gimmicky. I tried to spot the edits all the way through but couldnt, unlike say the film 1917 which I thought were badly hidden. If they filmed this live over 65 minutes thats a pretty incredible achievement. Same Director has Boiling Point isnt it, so theyve got form. Agree Ashley Walters is brilliant, and Stephen Graham is just in his everyman mode
Severance back on track after a couple of plodders
Adolescence is a cheery Friday night watch.
La Chimera
Beautiful Film, great acting
Agreed. Watched it earlier this week. A really charming and beautiful film. great acting by the lead, Josh O’Connor but so many good performances. It’s eccentric and thought provoking and the ending left me with a few lumps in my throat.
It jars so much i know what you mean
