Agreed. Watched it earlier this week. A really charming and beautiful film. great acting by the lead, Josh O’Connor but so many good performances. It’s eccentric and thought provoking and the ending left me with a few lumps in my throat.

The Last Showgirl
Pamela Anderson as an ageing dancer in one of the last shows in Vegas. Bittersweet little film, only 90 mins long. Think she deserved an awards nod for this.

Yeah it was all done over one shot, they had a week scheduled for each episode with 2 attempts a day. Great little making of video above ^

Imagine the money they saved on editing.
Wrangling all the school kids in the 2nd episode would’ve been one hell of a feat.
Season 3 of Yellowjackets is great pulp.
Definitely nods heavily to Twin Peaks with the mixture of hammy, over-the-top acting one minute, and legit dark, creepy turns the next in equal measure.

Yeah it’s fun. I watch it with my two teenage daughters- they’re obsessed with it. Perfect for them at their age.

Adolescence just raised the television notch meter. Watched a couple of episodes so far. What an achievement.
We watched the first episode last night, capped off a throughly depressing day after the football.
during a discussion in the office the other day i mentioned that there were a lot of really great series that i’ve been recommended but that i’ll probably never bother getting started on them because i didn’t want to invest that level of time. i said something like “i’m not going to even bother getting started on ‘the wire’ because it’s like what, sixty hours or something? i don’t have that kind of free time”.
a software engineer popped up and said “i made a website for that” and he sent us a link. and yep, it does exactly what you’d expect it to - it calculates the total runtime of a series. you may find this handy.

Up until recently, I’d be all over this, but in the last few years I’ve had less of an appetite for really grim storylines. Probably a reflection on the state of the world. Think I’ll sit this one out.

Harrowing stuff but it does highlight some important issues. Technically and in terms of acting performances, it’s outstanding.
