Do The Right Thing. Rosie Perez x Public Enemy titles are so good.
Same - even though my son is 18 it all flooded in and I was a wreck during the final episode. Those on here saying Stephen Graham phoned it in, I beg to differ. Yes, he has played similar roles but he wrote this script and I think his performance was pretty incredible. I forgot I was watching a scripted drama during the last 10 minutes - felt like I was there in the room.
Not sure whats going on with The White Lotus this series. Seems to be treading water every episode, its almost constipated in its storytelling. I love the atmosphere, the staging and lighting is great. I understand they are setting a creeping sense of dread but I’m not sure its really working. And where’s the comedy gone? Three episodes left. Hope the payoff is going to be worth it
I’m struggling with it I have to say. That kiss and Sam Rockwell’s monologue are clearly causing a stir, but I’m not sure there’s much else carrying it along.
To me it seems very different to the previous seasons. Too slow and a bit over-stuffed in terms of character arcs and plotlines.
Currently watching with my 15 yo lad who wanted to see it, saw second one last night. Pretty grim but brilliantly done - I think what I find equally as unnerving as the crime (and I’m not very good at articulating stuff so bear with…) is just the general state of the school, the state of the country, how the hell we’ve drifted into this.
I’m enjoying White Lotus myself. Sure it lacks the star power of Jennifer Coolidge or Murray Bartlett. But if I imagine it on it’s own, without the context of the previous seasons, I still prefer it to a lot of other television.
The soundtrack is still phenomenal to me.
Each episode feels like it goes for much longer than it’s run time (but in a good way). The Walton Goggins character is great, he’s capable of just about anything, and although not overt, the comedy of his snakes scene and the scene of his meeting with an old friend were both hilarious. The disassociating dad is great, and the childhood adult romance of the masseuse characters has it’s own charm. A few characters are flat, but I found that in the prior seasons too. I get why some don’t like it as much though.
We’ve been watching this since Tuesday night, about to start episode 3 and 4… Not bad and very Now with the fentenl problem in USA and particularly Kensington Philadelphia. where it’s set . I always like
the roles Amanda Seyfried picks… worth a look for some midweek cannon fodder…
Yes, I’ll hold my hand up there. He was pretty incredible in the last episode, which was devastating.
Yep, me too. The last few moments were gut wrenching
Steve has set such a high bar with his performances that people take it as normal. He’s award worthy in everything he gets involved in. No one else does it like him.
Ooh, I love this book. Didn’t know it was a TV show now. What a joy this forum is!
And I didn’t know there’s a book…lol
Re-watching Atlanta. Season 1 is so good, and it gets better and better
We’re watching it with our teenager and it’s a revelation
Currently it has loads of side episodes and stories, each one like a mini-movie
In other series this is really annoying but they are all SO GOOD
There’s a photographer I follow on Instagram called Suzanne Stein who documents that world, it’s so fucking grim
Severance season finale. Bloody hell! ![]()
