Rinsed through season 3 of Industry
The same happened to one of my favourites from recent years - the amazon adaptation of William Gibson’s Peripheral. Seems that series 2 of that was delayed by the screen writers strike in the US and eventually amazon gave up waiting and mothballed it.
Inside Out 2
40 minutes night on BBC 4. Re runs of old 40 minutes documentaries, currently watching “heart of the Angel” about Angel tube station 1989. Great stuff!
BBC 4 showing ‘Threads’ again tonight, only fourth time it’s been on TV apparently. Vague memories of seeing the trailers for it when it was first shown…powerful stuff.
I watched Threads again for the second time last night. Had completely forgotten what a harrowing and deeply depressing film it is (balearic it is not!) but that it’s just as relevant now as it was in the 80s. Did raise an eyebrow when I realised the premise for the attack involved Russia, Iran and the US (only one other key country missing from current news!). But it is a masterpiece that’s lost non of its power in being 40 years old. I still think its a minor miracle that there hasn’t been some sort of use of nuclear weapons since WW2.
I watched it on YouTube a couple of years back. I remember it first being shown and being terrified secretly watching it on my black and white telly long past my bed time. Then saw it on vhs mid 90s. It’s unbelievably bleak and I don’t think I could go through it again. My friend Jude Rogers did a good documentary about it for Radio 4 last month.
Yep really glad I didn’t watch it as a kid! When the Wind Blows was bad enough
Oh God, the saddest thing
Caught them twice last week on night shift.
Just back from The Outrun at the cinema. Strange seeing a film with so many places (and some people) I know. My friend and work colleague had a cameo.
An enjoyable film, that captures the unique beauty of Orkney. The book it’s based on is great too.
I use a good app called Aurorawatch that gives you notifications of when and where is best to see them.
'68 comeback special bbc4
Some ready made Bonobo album covers there
Just watched the first part of this, which is about Jungle, on Netflix, not an in depth history of the music but a decent watch, interviews with a lot of the OG heads like Ray Keith, DJ Ron, Fab and Groove, Brockie…
If you’re into good-natured, light-hearted american comedy, English Teacher is well worth a watch. Funny, clever and not very heavy, despite an air of resigned existential hopelessness.
Hopefully, Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS. Heading out West shortly.
Clouds. Just clouds. Nothing to see
