Saint Maud (Amazon)
Quirky psychological horror from Rose Glass. Thought this was brilliant. Recommend.

Army of the Dead (Netflix)
Not really a Zombie genre fan but this was good Saturday night popcorn film, mindless hokum but fun. Only really watched it after read one character was replaced digitally to see how well it was done. Chris D’Elia replaced due to his dodgy behaviour by Tig Notaro, couldn’t really see the joins which was impressive.
We’ve just started watching Motherland. Smashed both of the old series in a couple of days.
Just a non-cerebral, funny watch. I’ve never got into Philomena Clunk, but Diane Morgan is ace in this.
TOTP January '91 currently on BBC4, pretty good episode so far, Nomad doing ‘Devotion’, Soho doing ‘Hippychick’, The KLF doing ‘3AM Eternal’ a balearic tune by some act called Pure that was ok & Anthea Turner making a ‘joke’ about the Ku Klux Klan
A History of Afrofuture on iplayer is worth a watch. Particularly enjoyed the Drexciya section
Mare of Easttown was brilliant I’m not a big fan of Winslet but she was outstanding. Such a great story.
What the bloody heck is that masked dancer show
The most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. My daughter said it’s good, I asked to explain the point, she couldn’t, she decided it’s crap haha
Could be better if they had people from the judges past… Say Amanda Holden unviels Les Dennis
Ideal Home (Prime)
No idea how this got green lit, watched it like an unfolding car crash. Steve Coogan and Paul Rudd as gay couple adopting young boy. Think they thought it would be some kind of La Cage aux Folles for the 21st century. Bilge of the highest order. Could possibly go cult as it’s so bad, Paul Rudd was half okay.
Time (BBC iPlayer)
New 3 part Jimmy McGovern drama on the BBC about a teacher sent to prison for drink driving. Sean Bean plays the teacher and the excellent Stephen Graham as a prison officer. Watched the first one and it was the usual grim goodness from a McGovern drama.
Just when I thought things couldn’t get better than Mare of East Town!
Time is absolutely brutally brilliant. That first episode really rocked me and the second is equally gripping. Superb acting all round. Highly, highly recommended.
Binged the first two last night. Very good. Will try and watch the other one later.
You just know nothing is going to go well for the characters in a McGovern drama. My anxiety level was pretty high throughout.
The BBC at its best
Yes, watched EP1 last night. Absolutely gripping stuff. Jimmy McGovern hitting it out the park again (so far)
Just finished it. Top notch stuff. A lot of difficult subject matter tackled very sensitively.
Nae Pasaran (BBC iPlayer)
The true story of Scottish workers who refused to complete work on military parts that were heading to Pinochet’s regime in Chile. Real working class solidarity. I’m not someone to be proud of things because of where I happened to be born, but this is one. My god we miss this kind of solidarity.
Started watching a few episodes of naked and afraid on a Dave like Channel, never watched it before. Has anyone ever killed their partner/ teammate on it…? There’s a guy coming close on the episode I’m watching at the moment… Lol
just watched this and it was really good - not just seeing Drexciya get covered by the BBC but all the conceptual stuff of Sun Ra and double-conciousness being explained so lucidly.
This is such a good watch. I didn’t know the story, to my shame but it made me a very proud Scot
