Rewatching some old films (The Warriors, Full Metal Jacket etc) at the moment on streaming and paying for them which means they are generally scaled up to HD. For whatever reason they don’t look “proper” in HD, they just don’t look right. I honestly don’t know how to explain it but probably going to just get them in standard definition in future. If only there was an option for “pirate VHS with wonky tracking” for me to get the proper experience of my childhood when I first watched them.
Tellies now do high frame rate as standard which looks shit, like a 1980s daytime soap. You can usually reset it, on mine it’s called ‘film maker mode’.
Didn’t know that. Thanks.
Been buying quite a few dvds recently. A lot of old films hard to get in streaming nowadays.
Peckinpahs straw dogs for example with all its flaws is nigh on impossible to view online but dvd was £1.89 + £2 postage which is cheaper than many films bought digitally. Old boxsets are £5 or so and give you half a dozen films
Definitely the way to go, watching Northern Exposure on eBay boxsets, couple of quid a season Vs £15 to Jeff Bezos’ cock rocket
Shardlake on Disney Plus.
It’s no Wolf Hall but it’s not far off …does the books justice, great cast.
‘All episodes streaming…’ oof that’s going to be tough not to binge in a oner
Rewatching The Sopranos - so many episodes - the bingers dream
I know I will be .
I was about to send that to my son, he loves bigfoot. Until I got to :30s
Bit late on it but finished Kin today, binged it over a couple of days, couple of things i found a bit unrealistic, but overall enjoyed it and hope there’s gonna be another series.
First series was a bit cringe in parts with Eamon swaning around, second series was better and very close to things that happened in Dublin over the last few years…
Oh they already made a 2nd series?
Been watching it on Netflix and they’ve only got the first series it seems.
It wasn’t so much Eamon, it was the Kinsellas going about daily life, taking the kid out, hooking up on Grindr, whilst every gangster in Dublin is hunting them that I thought was far fetched, can they really be that constantly stupid I thought lol.
Thought Ciaran Hinds was really good as Eamon, always think he brings a weight and character to any role he plays.
That was close
You will probably binge on the second series when you get to meet Bren played by Francis Magee…
Yeah, saw Bren briefly in the prison visit scene, he’s a charmer!
They’ve filmed the third series it’s due out later this year. I enjoyed it but I know what you mean about some bits of it. The Ayahuasca bit is interesting
Been binging Tokyo Vice on iPlayer. Really enjoying it.
