Secret Invasion

Its been hyped as Marvel’s grown up paranoid espionage style thriller but Samuel Jackson’s comedy stick on beard and the obvoius British locales (its suppsed to be Moscow) so far make the whole thing look super cheap and sub par. Olivia Colman is great though as a no nonsesne Mi5 agent

Silo finale was a welcome sight after maybe dragging the 10 episodes out a wee bit. However a good, unexpected twist has set it up for S2.

7/10 will dive into S2 when it comes

Dark, dark as fuck, phenomenally shot and acted

Yes great film, brilliant and brutal…

Got 3 months of Disney+ with my new phone and rewatching Summer of Soul. Life affirming.

Any Disney+ recommendations greatly appreciated.

Fire of Love is great if you’ve not seen it

America’s long love affair with using and abusing prescription drugs was always an accident waiting to happen.

I guess this series shows capitalism in its full, unbridled, unabashed ugliness.

The Louis Theroux episode - Heroin Town shows the real-life effects of this tragedy.

Crazy to think that none of the Sackler family have done jail time.

DJ Premier, the greatest producer of the last 50 years in my opinion, has taken on an elder statesman of hip hop mantle in recent years, with his radio work and the YouTube series. Trying to think who else is in that ‘elder statesman’ bracket - Chuck D, Ice T. Not sure who else?? Primo is more a custodian of the culture rather than a political figure though.

Anyway, who cares what I think.

Great interview with him here:

Nearly an hour long. Deffo worth a watch.

Season 2 of The Bear starts on Disney+ this week. We watched it already as it aired in the US. It’s the best show I’ve seen in years, such a masterclass. Ep6 has some amazing surprise cameo appearances and will leave you speechless!
