This is fantastic, thanks!
a classic, and still affordable.
Interesting this record. The guy who made it was actually in a rap group in Leeds called Breaking The Illusion so this was quite a radical departure at the time. As far as I know he never made another House record again.
GABRIELA MIX #5 ~ DJ LLOYD by Gabriela.nyc on #SoundCloud
i like the idea of him sitting back, wiping his hands on his pants, and saying āwell, made a perfect house record, no bother in making another oneā and then moving on with his day.
I didnāt know he did a boiler room. Seems against his vibe/thing to do a 90 minute recorded set.
Risque- starlight sounds great at the beginning. Full tracklisting on DJH, I assume.,
imho one of the most criminally overlooked records of the last 50 years. Ashley Beedle on edit duties here.
will never, ever tire of Fire In My Heart!
I heard that on some CD (hotel costes?) years ago before I knew about Idris Muhammad. That long intro is worth it in the end!
Iām glad you said what I was thinking
Picked up his Carry On The Grudge album at the weekend and been listening to it a lot, this is as infectious as a bite from the living dead.
Itās a weird set. Definitely not what I think the crowd was expecting.
Itās up on YT as well, tracklist in the comments:

Was reminded of that Milan Boiler Room when the John Greek remix came out last year. Genuine question - who else on the DJ circuit would dare to play something like that out now? Would love to hear Eric and Thomas get Rub N Tug back together because it seems up their street, but maybe too late? When H does eventually retire, wondering who will carry the torch for leftfield dancefloor sleaze.
I looked at this a while back. A couple of things strike me dipping into it again. First of all, I remember Pure Imagination being the first track, which seemed pretty brave at the time, the fact that it went on for minutes. But, you know, it would be a way to make a mark, I guess. Now that I realise it was the second track following that great drum workout just seemsā¦I want to say insane, but I suppose this is what he gets paid the big bucks for lol.
Second thing is, Iād forgotten how great that San Juan track is. Picked up a while back on a Nick The Record reco. Love it.
Great mix. This is what itās all about. No show ponying with phones or doing silly dances, just excellent selections put together perfectly.
40 Thieves remix of new Payfone track Volt To Volt.
Top stuff.
nice slice of loungey Brazilian dnb
