You are right it is one of the best pop songs of all time.

There’s also this version (from Spanish TV no less), also outstanding …

I’m rather fond of Munich’s Lali Puna, especially Everywhere and All Over (can’t believe it is 20 years old) from the band’s first album, Tricorder. Both Weatherall and Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood are massive fans - and Tim Simeon later worked with them.

@Pulsatio7 and @Ten-bob-eyed-soul are we counting the Propaganda album as a German production? Personally I think not as it’s a Steve Lipson record. Nevertheless @Dijon - Dream Within a Dream goosebumps, still :blue_heart:

I think it was 2005 and I walk into a used record store in Tokyo, I hear a nice track playing on the instore system I ask what it is, it was Dorothy/Softness and they showed the compilation they were playing it off which was GRLZ - Women Ahead Of Their Time (Crippled Dick Hot Wax). I didnt buy the comp (looking back I have no idea why I didnt) got back to the UK and found MP3’s of the comp online, loved most of the tracks especially Nicolle Meyer / Nowhere bei mir.
Loving the Nicolle Meyer track so much I heard off to google to find some info on the track and hopefully buy a copy, but searches only ever took me to websites mentioning the GRLZ - Women Ahead Of Their Time comp but never info on the Nicolle Meyer track and copies never popped up on Gemm or eBay.
I asked on an internet forum if anyone had any info on the track and no one did and for a year or so when searching for Nicolle Meyer Nowhere Bei Mir the only search that came up that wasn’t for the GRLZ comp was my post on the forum asking for info!
Well it goes to how how much the world/internet has changed in the short amount of time since I was looking for the track, now with just about every record on Discogs you can buy a copy in seconds and even head to Youtube and see a performance of the track:
