I can promise you if Harris wins then there will be complete carnage until Jan 6th and I truly do fear for this country. Just takes one idiot to be empowered by Trump’s rhetoric to do something very, very stupid.
In Pennsylvania, Trump supporters echoed his view that the only way he could lose was if Democrats cheated. One marine veteran told this masthead: “If they rig another one, 30 million mother f—ers like me are gonna burn this country down. We’re going headhunting.”

Quelle surprise
Sisters gonna save the day
I sincerely hope so!

I think Harris is going to walk it
genuine question, not trying to shit stir, but does Harris actually fill you with any hope?
from the outside looking in, she’s yet another genocidal maniac, who has been complicit in allowing the deaths of 10’s of thousands of people, but she’s obviously not Trump, so that helps, and he will allow the genocide to continue on anyway, but is it really just a case of a lesser of two evils, or are people just blinded by the fact that she’s not a Republican, so she must be alright?
this offers a little insight, but i see it as a similar quandary i recently found myself having in our recent UK elections, and now i’m annoyed on a daily basis that i voted Labour with the disgrace that is Starmer at the helm.
Saul Williams has been one person who i have closely followed through out the past year and he delivered this speech this week, which felt, at least to me, very important.
If there is any hope, it is that this election, which I believe Harris will win, will prevent Trump from running again in any serious way. His mental decline is real, and in four years time I hope his cognitive collapse will do him in (or at least prevent him from mounting any serious challenge. He said he wouldn’t run again if he lost - can’t exactly believe him, but he may be physically unable). If he wins, I believe his administration will be run by Vance, like Cheney to GWB - which is a scary thought.
Harris represents big money interests. Her campaign has been so staged so as not to offend her benefactors. Yet even Bernie Sanders endorsed Harris late in the game, hopefully not too-little too-late. On a host of issues she is “better than Trump,” but you mentioned Starmer, and I had the same thoughts back then about his campaign and actual premiership. That feeling of disappointment.
Then there are the Trump clones who will try to save maga, but I doubt they have the cult of personality that Trump has to keep it going. We shall see.
Obviously I hope Trumpy doesn’t get in and I’d be surprised if he ran again. That being said it do find it more than a little concerning that some younger, more coherent upstart could pick up the MAGA baton for the future and be a whole lot more of a formidable prospect. I don’t know enough about US politics as to whether there’s anyone in the wings. Be interesting to see what will happen to the Republican party when he finally hangs up his cap. He’ll have left it in ruins and shame on those that towed the line out of self-interest and preservation but I guess that’s politics.
Having said all that, were people voting for Trump or his policies…did he even have any… Or did the zealots and cranks just project their ideas onto him. Apologies, rambling now.
If you have a choice of exactly 2 then you pick one or the other
Edit: to expand that, we just ran a whole election on “at least I’m not the other guy” and Labour absolutely stormed it
There is the problem of Jill Stein (Green Party) and Cornel West picking off some votes… Not sure if that will be a big issue - if Trump was wise (ha!), he would have kept RFK Jr. in the race to split the Democratic ticket and probably win big.
Was RFK a democrat? I thought he was an independent and a threat to Trump. Now a rabid anti-vaxxer potentially in charge of US healthcare.
He was taking more votes away from the democrats, people who were “tired with the status quo” and felt he was more liberal etc…
