I don’t normally get angry but I’m just so sick of this far right swindle that’s been played out in the last few years especially-on both sides of the Atlantic.
In fact it’s more like a badly performed card trick- that’s what angers me the most.
The transparency of all the lies - that so many people are still falling for this con/ okey- doke/ whatever you want to call it- or even worse, knowing it’s bullshit but running with it anyway because it ticks all their own prejudicial boxes.

A proper journalist needs to look into how Musk addressing the crowd happened. Has to be a link between these far right movements and people like Musk funding them + basically interfering in UK politics.
You dont get someone like him popping up unannounced off the back off a couple of retweets. That takes connections and planning.
Yesterday’s events were just scary. After weeks of people being arreested for peacefully protesting about Palestine, over 100k racists get to stomp about with impunity.

It feels to me like the Left is a bit blinded at the moment and torn as to what to do. On the one hand you have people saying far right popularity is wildly exaggerated and just a media fuelled illusion. On the other hand, you have anti-fascist groups saying things have never been this bad, whilst afilliated extreme nationalist parties are gaining power everywhere. So which is it?
The problem is there no obvious response to what is happening. You can go to Essex and try and persuade people that Farage is a conman. Or go on demos and call people Nazis and hope that will scare some fat, coked up football hoolies on the rampage. Or you can radicalise further and literally fight for your ideals (see Sp Civil War).
Ultimately, for people who believe in democracy, justice, fairness, there are no obv leaders atm, either side of Atlantic and that is a massive problem. There’s no unifying JFK-style hero waiting in the wings, and maybe politics has been fragmented so much by the internet, that there never could be now?

Some of the original 59 have already tried to go back. They were denied. Since then another 39 have come. People back home have very little sympathy for their racism and opportunism.

The left needs a massive rethink.
The traditional grass roots blue collar demographic is changed beyond all recognition. I’ve said it before but the call centre is the new coal face… who is tapping into that in a viable leadership setting?
People in these industries aren’t going to have their heads turned by Oxbridge or even university educated career politicians on the left and certainly not by the dated Corbynist ideology which whilst in many respects is admirable in its morality just isn’t saleable to the electorate en masse in 2025

A wealth tax is supported by the majority of Labour AND Reform voters, yet neither party will go there (especially not Reform which is run by millionaires). It might not be the right answer but it’s the right question (inequality)

Not to dismiss the concept of a wealth tax per se but Labour looked into in it 1974 and abandoned the idea as almost impossible to implement.

I dont think it’s as simple as left v right any longer. Reform has swept up a load of disgruntled traditional ‘left’ leaning voters off the back of their immigration policy and ‘getting our country back’.
What I still find astounding is no-one in the media is calling out Farage and co on their total lack of policy. You just have to watch these goons on social media to see how clueless they all are
