Was this in reply to the Begin mix ID or a separate one? The one i am looking for is the floaty ambient number with strings, starting at 48:08. Thanks

It’s an edit with some additional production on top. This is the source material -

Thanks for this! Am sure I had heard it but the name Geraldine isn’t ringing bells. It’s funny looking back. I was pretty new to disco in the 2000s and was continually getting the edits mixed up with the originals. ‘Jeopardy’ was another one I really liked from that time. Often the edits were a gateway to this groovy cosmic world I knew zilch about

sort of a weird “name that tune” thing: a while back someone posted an italo disco song that sounded super similar to wham’s “everything she wants” - uncannily so, enough that it was sort of obvs that ol’ george had cribbed it. same bpm, same linndrum loop, maybe even the same bassline.

it may not have been posted here. might have been DJH way back in the day.

anyone remember what the italo song was?

George Michael says…

"It’s the only song I’ve written that successfully came from a backing track first. I wrote the Linn drum pattern and found a synthesizer program I liked and wrote the backing track in one evening,”

Illusion Orchestra bio says…

“Steve Jolley (1950) and Tony Swain (January 20, 1952) were a successful pop musician, songwriting and record production duo in the United Kingdom in the early to mid-1980s. They produced several hit albums and singles for Imagination, Spandau Ballet, Bananarama and Kim Wilde.”

Hmmm…:joy:

Same experience here. Still the case with a lot of the music honestly.

Nice. As featured in Danny Wang’s favourite b sides.

Edit: fixed the link

That Frantique B-Side is a favourite.

this second mix at 51:00

Looking for a song that for some reason I think @deepconcentration might know!

It was like a Devo / late 70s / early 80s synthy indy type track. The synth could have been early house. But the vocals made it sound like it could be Devo or one of those West Coast rock/synth/punk bands of PNW. Like the kind of band LCD Soundsystem were influenced by!

Lyric line (male, a little bit camp, bitchy, spoken fast over the synth and drum machine “I’m going to tell my friends about you” - and then there was a bit where he said something like “you like to dance, and suck cock”

Anyway, it was a real grower as I was browsing.

It was an obscure record shop in Antwerp. And I thought those lyrics are so clear, this will be easy to Google later, I don’t want to blow my cool and ask…lol. I should have just asked.

Cameron, any thoughts?

Hello - Sorry to be vague but someone posted about an edit of Boogie 2Nite on one of the threads a while back. Could anyone remind me what it was please?
