Sneaker’s Records Top 10
June 1990
I don’t use Spotify, but know that friends really like its algorithm.
Amazon music usually just plays me MF DOOM. Fair enough, but a little uninspired.
Amazon music goes into autoplay when an album or playlist finishes and is really spot on. The odd thing from my collection, but usually recent hip hop by the sort of artists I actually like.
I don’t think I’ve ever put my whole iTunes library on shuffle. Probably great for re-discovery.
One of my ‘stating the obvious’ posts I suppose.
Lindt Choco Wafer
Wispa Gold
G&B Almond
Cadburys Picnic
Lindt Les Grandes
M&S Swiss Fruit & Nut
Tony’s Almond & Honey
Freddo
Waitrose No.1 Milk chocolate with feulletine wafer and sea salt.
G&B Butterscotch
There’s a playlist called, well in my case my name’s station, and it does a decent job. The Discovery one is very hit n miss.
God, Tony’s is so good.
Laurent Garnier’s Top 10
October 1994
Were there less releases so they stayed on longer or were there just more great films around at the same time
Supermarket Red Leicester ( not the
‘vintage’ shit that tastes of cows)
Lake District brand cheddar (extra mature limited edition)
Crumbly Lancashire/Wensleydale (joint chart position)
Emmenthal
Smoked Cheddar
Edam
Gouda
Halloumi
Feta
(Stilton is not in this chart, as it’s a list of nice cheeses- not infectious plague riddled growths)
I went there in '96 and it was the bomb - incense and sofas and shrink wrapped mysterious eleven minute long flute solo tracks that sounded amazing in the shop, before heading out to Body and Soul. Maybe the last time NYC felt on top?
#3 and #5 I agree 100%
Cant argue with most of it tbf
i don’t know that i agree with #3, i really sort of hear them as two completely different songs. played the dirt out of “in the trees” way back when, and i did like the C2 remix, but i couldn’t say it outshined the original when the original was so shiny to begin with.
i could actually say the same about #7.
Was just thinking the same about #7. The original is blisteringly good on its own. However it is true that I’ve lost it in clubs much more to the remix
re: #10
the maurice fulton mixes were on the b-side! it must have been kind of tough to have been FF5, submitting remixes that were completely overshadowed by the other guy’s.
we could probably come up with a pretty decent list of twelves where the bigger name remixer went unnoticed in lieu of the B2 remix or whatever by someone who absolutely nailed it.
6: Can you name a Larry Levan mix that’s worse than the original?
(I can, it’s Changes by Imagination, but that’s the only one)
Tracks (top five, no order):
Bryony Jarman-Pinto - Moving Forward (Cosmodelica remix)
Glen S - Give Me Beat (Make A Dance ReWork)
Tony Esposito - Pagaia (Feel Fly Cosmical Remix)
The Night Trains - Lovesick
Perikas - Labarinto (from the TANGENT compilation)
Trainers - New Balance 9060. Chunky, very comfortable. Might not be for everyone but I have 3 pairs now and I love them.
Clothing - made a point of buying more used than new clothing this year. Favourite item is a YMC x Cape Heights puffer jacket from Depop, perfect almost unworn condition and a very reasonable price.
No events this year out of solidarity with best friend who is battling cancer. Was hoping to get something in but it’s not worked out. Quiet year.
EDIT Just realised, posted in wrong thread
