I don’t fully understand the whole idea of “Reggae Pre”. Was it a promo that record shops selling? Did the records come out later officially?

Bought my first 12’’ in there, Mystic Merlin. Scary af.
Also bump in to Justin L often, lovely chap.

Roger The Hippy ten from 1989. True balearic spirit.

This is a brilliant and no doubt expensive thread! I’ll dig into my recently unearthed 90s Mixmags and Face mags and see what I can find.

Loving these. Reminds me of simpler times, checking charts/reviews in magazines, going to record shops and buying records. Then the journey home in anticipation.
I absolutely love having so much music instantly accessible, but still miss that old buzz.

The Power was a totally ubiquitous record. Got burn on every credible mix show, in every club etc. It wasn’t until it crossed over and the whole biting Chill Rob G controversy emerged that the record became “uncool”. Similarly I remember like three weeks where “Ice Ice Baby” was the biggest coolest record on mixshow and kids were dancing to it in the cafeteria or whatever and then the video dropped and the tides turned.
