Theo or Kenny?

Got to to hand it to Kenny for weaving in a little Tony Hancock and getting away with it.

Was gonna say Moodymann - and then drop this one - which gave me one of my most memorable dj moments - one of those that destroys a room played at the right time - pure hedonism
Then I noticed in brackets it’s produced by Theo :man_shrugging:

Think it’s the same version on Theo’s Baby Steps 12”.

Killer track.

I think i have every single record both made up until recent years when i just quit buying them. Got bored, wanted to hear other stuff. I think that they have some incredible releases, especially the earlier but Moodys wannabe Prince period is also great.
I also think they are heavily overrated as DJs, both play classics, their own production and just general stuff from the Detroit/Chicago canon. Boring!

One of my favourites, thanks for posting it I’d forgotten what it is called.
KDJ for me.

Lake Shore Drive was massive for me BITD, couldn’t leave it alone!

I think of Theo as making dancefloor tracks whereas I think of MM much more as making ‘listening’ tracks. His 2014 LP is one of the very few ‘house’ albums I regularly listen to properly, all the way through.

KDJ has made some of my all time favourite house music. I really like some of Theo’s productions and edits, but KDJ is miles ahead for me.

I love their DJ sets. They play so much of the music I love, and they’re not confined by genre or bpm. I like Kenny’s vibe and all the shit talking amidst the great music, but Theo takes this round.

Not been to a Theo gig in ages. I heard he was great in London a few weeks ago. Really looking forward to his set at WOH in August.

Related but not related, the original sample is too good not to share in it’s full glory Walter Murphy - Afternoon Of A Faun (1979)

They can play whatever they want. But in the style they are playing i think that there are other DJs that appeal more to my taste.
