The sound of now aka the sound of 1990: streetsoul

in 1990 I was two years old, unsurprisingly I missed all of it

“fell from the sun” is also the title to a lovely pale saints track - wonder that’s what bob & pete had in mind?

i don’t regret many things in life, but i regret skipping out on seeing pale saints play the belmont pub in portland - way back in like 1996 or something. the gig may have been on a tuesday night, i could have had the entire band to myself. just figured i’d catch them on the next tour. what a dumb choice.

That label just reminded me of this Morales mix. Bit of a house variation on the street soul beat. Sweet vocals though.

pretty sure the “retro mix” fits the bill here, though there’s no youtube vid for it. i got a fair amount of play out of it back in the early-90’s “acid jazz” monday nights or whatever. pre “grown n’ sexy”, but right in that pocket.
