Now THIS really is the final straw!
Hahahaha
Deleted all Meta apps for my phone. If I need to use them I’ll login on a desktop. Found a few folk on Bluesky but still early days.
As others have mentioned, there are a few Insta accounts I’ll miss, @jolyon being one, but there’s enough music on here to keep me going for 2 lifetimes, so not exactly feeling like I’m losing out on anything.
Jolyon’s quit it too… we need that blue sky insta app.
Putting it here too, if useful, a thread of alternative social options:
Just trying out posting here the YouTube alternative they recommend - Odysee - to see what happens:
Edit: looks alright, not as nice a link in TP as YT but contains the Bandcamp link and works well enough. Doesn’t have the depth of music YT has tho.
Lest we forget social media does have some plus points
I remember from years ago this but thought a bit different ?( more people in room)
That’s it. I’m off FB and Messenger. Both accounts permanently deleted.
Feels good.
Nice. I deleted Insta off my phone yesterday, but not had the balls to delete the account yet. Still pop into FB occasionally to see what the village nutters are cross about, but should do that too.
Edit: Deleted FB and Insta, thanks for the prod!
The tidiest of the Peep Show GFs ![]()
I’ve just moved house and have found FB marketplace really useful for getting rid of stuff.
But apart from that and keeping up with a few old friends on messenger, I’d happily never use the main site again
Deleted FB App but cant leave due to the Viz Fan pages
Always great, spot on here about social and other media, funny too - shame about the sensationalist headline quote pulled out to advertise it when it isn’t about that topic really, especially given his wariness of such practice in the interview itself:
Just spent four days in here, no electric, no wifi, phone signal etc. Cooking on a camp fire, washing / swimming in the river and 37 acres of private woodland all to myself. A complete shut off from the outside world - absolutely brilliant.
When I deleted FB, by day 2 i already didn’t miss it!
Mad innit - haven’t missed it at all. Just shows how easy it is to break the habit.
