I enjoyed it to a point but the hype was and is very strong. Painfully slow to start, worth it for one scene, abysmal ending.

I really liked sinners, watched it again over Christmas, and still enjoyed 2nd time around. Was definitely one of my fave’s of 25. As much as I liked it I wouldn’t have thought it Oscar worthy, it’s pretty much a horror romp…must check what categories it’s in.

Third times a charm!
Saw Marty Supreme just now - Timotay did a great job, as did Gwinnie and the rest - it was well worth viewing on the big screen. Daniel Lopatin’s score was brilliant, as were the incidental inclusions of some 80s synth bangers (PiL - Order Of Death was a nice placement).

Just watched The Rip on Netflix. It’s really, really ridiculous. I must have been entertained, because I did finish it, but its corny as hell.

I’ve been thinking about it all week since I saw it on Tuesday. Absolutely brilliant film. You cant take your eyes off Chalamet. The music shouldn’t work, but it absolutely does

Hamnet. My wife really wanted to see it. I liked it mainly for Jessie Buckley’s performance but probably wont watch it ever again.

Really enjoyed it. It’s set in New York and I didn’t know it was based on the story of how John Bishop (U.K. comedian) got into stand up during his divorce and began using comedy as therapy/a way to talk about what he was going through. And what happened when his wife randomly came to a place he was doing stand up.
Bradley Cooper playing a supporting role as a stoner wannabe actor is good fun too.

This was great. Someone called it “Uncut Gems” for mothers and that gets somewhere toward the vibe…
No other choice. Early in the year but can see this being my favourite film of 2026.

“It was just an accident” has just landed in NZ. A sobering peek into Iranian life and the controlled fear they live in. Excellent performances and the full horror and misery of their lives is unveiled quietly through conversations which describe the torture and the effects on people’s lives if they’re “lucky” enough to be released.

We went from the adrenaline of a Super Bowl party home team win to a packed house for this… can’t recommend it enough, the sound design, acting, cinematography…devastating film.

The rave scenes really rang true for me, the sound and the feel–maybe the best I’ve seen in a film. And it really needs to be seen in the cinema. “Dark heart of a rave” is lazy journalese. I felt that the film isn’t really about raving, it’s about family, perhaps more specifically the family groups and possibilities we create. But it is an intense ride and the music is a huge part of that.
