I think Netflix might be listening, there was a section for 90 minute films on my wife’s account last night.
Watched The Woman in Cabin 10 last night, enjoyed it and all in one sitting without either of us nodding off. More 90 minute films please

I saw Predator: Badlands on the weekend. My advice to you: don’t.
Saw it on telly at the weekend (BFI Player). I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. Specifically, the music, the supporting cast and the dream sequences.
I had problems with Frank Dillane’s hair.
Josh O Connor is having his moment isn’t he?
Was going to post in Small Claims but just saw your post.
We went to a gig on saturday at a small village pub (6 bells, chiddingly) a local band who I know several of the members.
Standing at the bar beforehand I turned to see this fella who looked familiar. It was him out of Urchin, i didn’t know his name but I guess from your description it is Frank Dillane. He looked like he’d walked straight off the set ![]()
There was also another chap who looked familiar, totally separate who I thought might be their new drummer. Turned out to be Joe Cole who looks like a Peaky Blinder but apparently isn’t.
I imagine that all this showbiz glamour is down to the lead singer being a film director, The Hallow, The Nun, Gangs of London etc.
Anyway we all played it cool in a very small venue and a great gig it was.
He was also in Fear the Walking Dead, my son was absolutely distraught when he was killed (spoiler alert)
My film buff daughter was equally putout when we told her he’d been at the gig, we’d invited her along but had declined ![]()
6 Bells! Great pub and venue. Not been for a while, was a regular haunt growing up.
You’ll be pleased to hear that it hasn’t changed even a bit.
I think I’ve been going there since learning to drive at 17. Nearly 40 years!
So good.
Got round to watching Marty Supreme. Loved it as a movie although it was a typically anxious Safdie watch. I suspect it will either clean up or totally bomb at awards season.
Not a cinema visit but watched Norwegian film The Worst Person in the World from 2021 on Film 4 app last night and really enjoyed it. I’ve seen it listed in a few best of 21st century lists but the title never really appealed for some reason. Listed as a romantic-comedy drama but I don’t think that really does it justice. Excellent performance from lead actress Renate Reinsve. Well worth a watch.
Great, great film. Oslo, August 31st is also really good in the same trilogy. Quite a bit heavier though.
I’ll keep an eye open for the other two films in the trilogy and also keen to see Trier/Reinsve’s Sentimental Value from last year which gets rave reviews.
I randomly selected that one afternoon over the christmas break. I loved it.
Will look out for the others too ![]()
We always use the christmas period to check through the Guardian list for the films we’ve missed out on during the year. some really excellent stuff that we did miss including
Vermiglio which is a bit of a heartbreaker but the Italian mountain scenery looks amazing!
Santosh, that the Guardian described as a Northern Indian woman police procedural - which totally undersells an excellent thriller mixed up with issues of race, gender, class, and caste (I may not be selling it either)
Watched it over the weekend. I really enjoyed it but its a bit of a marmite film, a mate hated it.
I hated Uncut Gems and this looks like more of the same. I’m tired of seeing White men falling upwards in convoluted plots ![]()

Watched Baltimorons last night - what a lovely film that was. The improv scene nearly ruined it for me, but turns out, it didn’t.
My reviews are pish/10.
Or trustworthy…
Watched Hamnet last night.
I thought it was beautiful. Wife got a bit bored and hates Shakespeare anyway so didn’t love it as much.
A study of how we deal differently with grief and the indescribable pain of losing a child.
If Jesse Buckley doesn’t win an Oscar I’d be very surprised.
