Was a bit gutted to miss this during the Fringe so pleased it’s back on
The Bikeriders. We watched this last night and really enjoyed it. Hardy being Brando, Benny being James Dean. Jodie Comer is so watchable and her accent in this is both brilliant and highly amusing. Available to rent on Prime.
Not cinema but we watched a live screening of Jodie Comer in Prima Facie last weekend… Incredible. National Theatre Live: Prima Facie | Official Website | 12 September
ignore the 12th September bit - i think there are frequent screenings around the country
Just mentioned this to my wife who’s apparently been trying to book this for ages. Always sold out. It’s coming on again here shortly but full already.
Sames, we have been to Farley Farm and a couple of talks with Roland Penrose, plus they did an exhibition of her clothes and photos at the museum here a year or so ago. So the film was a real treat, and I’m glad her story got to be told (or at least part of it). Winslet was great.
Recently caught a preview of Anora. Lots of Oscar buzz around Mikey Madison. Totally deserved.
We saw it at the theatre but missed the last
20 minutes because my other half had left her phone on in the bottom of a big bag, and her daughter kept trying to FaceTime her and she couldn’t find the phone. It was mortifying . We fled after a minute of trying to find the fucking thing. Up until that point, it was brilliant …
Just got back from seeing The Wild Robot with my 6 year old, both enjoyed it, it looks gorgeous & Matt Berry is good as a mildly misanthropic Beaver.
Looks great! Five stars in The Times today, think I might try and take my almost six year old at some point. His little sister can’t sit through a full film yet so makes it a bit more difficult though
Don’t wanna jinx it but I think he’d enjoy it.
I think mine was 4 before she had the attention span to sit through a full film & even then she could get bored during some scenes
Can second these Wild Robot sentiments. Took my 5 year old son on Saturday and he sat through the whole thing which speaks to the quality of it! Great story, well paced, and fantastic to look at. Much better than recent Pixar releases I thought.
You missed 10 minutes really then - the final 10 minutes is a bit of a lecture which takes a bit away from the whole thing, I felt. That’s not to say it isn’t brilliant, though.
Wow that trailer looks fantastic. Just read the blurb too. I’m in.
Written and directed by Brady Corbet too which is impressive. I liked him as as a young actor in Funny Games (US), Martha Marcy May Marlene, Mysterious Skin etc.
3 and 1/2 hours though
Yeah insane run time, but at least this one is presented with an intermission
We are catching Anora next week. A new film from Sean Baker is always a must–Tangerine and Florida Project are modern classics…
Loved it!
I posted a while ago about how I hated watching old films in HD or 4k as they didn’t look right, this explains it and I just adjusted my settings… So much better!!!
Ive been really intrigued to see the mauling Joker: Foile â Deux has been getting, so I went along to see it and felt compelled to write about it
