The Ibiza Thread

Why do they even go? Baffling and depressing in equal measures.

At the risk of sounding like a fossil, the piss boring music they play would drive me to any suitable distraction :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

Fully rested and recharged today after Thursday night/Friday recovery…Sun is out and comfortable 22° … probably take the scenic route to La Torre late afternoon with a few stops on the way… people use a lot of trails where we are staying…

Had to circle the gecko, sadly seeing less and less every year…

Wish I was staying for the Halloween party’s :pensive: They were the wildest and final party of the year for most workers and bar owners who would close for the winter and open again next summer…We were in a bar last night that are doing a True Blood themed few days for Halloween… Been once for the infamous BHs Halloween carry on Salinas when David Phillips and crew were running it.,.

I don’t think I can envisage just how truly shit this is actually going to be.

Watched this interview with Vaughan last night. Someone who’s seen it all over the last 40+ years. The stuff about the (ongoing) dispute with Pacha was pretty eye-opening. He’s from that generation that lived to party and didn’t give a fuck. Only met him once at the Monkey Bar in 2010 before that got busted. Feels like the new bar is one last hedonistic throw of the dice before he packs it in.

I agreed with a lot of the things he was moaning about, esp the joke prices and all the money/status-obsessed bollocks, but equally I think we’ve moved on from sleazy live sex shows and maybe he’s still a bit stuck in that era? I guess there are trade-offs. People might be more boring now, but more clued up about addiction and the rest?

*if it doesn’t open, it’s on the ‘Dodge Woodall’ channel. (The interviewer is so bland you barely notice he’s there)

Is this bar still open in Ibiza town?

Faith at Pikes a week ago was superb. I’d been last year and it was frustrating, as mainly hung out the bar area on west side - Freddie’s was about 40C and totally rammed, no space to dance or even shuffle. This year with the whole pool area and upper bar opened up the venue came into its own with the sultry night air (21C?)and great vibes (think Dave Jarvis was playing?). Freddie’s was great, Farley and Stuart P expertly blending the classic and contemporary. Danny Rampling in pole position on the floor in front of the DJ box locked to the groove. Lost my phone about 1.30am and was enjoying things so much only bothered looking for it at the end of the bash…and it had been handed in (thank you).

I’ve been to many Ibiza bashes over the years and this was right up there. Cool, sociable crowd, right time of year and chance to enjoy open-air vibes in a historic location. Improvements: ‘Plaza Mayor’ still didn’t feel right (lighting too bright and feels likes a dining hall). Jo Mills was playing a good set here but few dancers in evidence.

Next day (Mon) headed to Pikes again to catch wonderful daytime vibes from Ibiza Sonica’s Andy Wilson and Dribbler.

Can’t wait for next year.
