The Ibiza Thread

That documentary used to be on TP (maybe still is somewhere).

I’ve been looking for the audio, no joy so far…

Definitely exists somewhere. Think Jolyon sent it to me way back when.

I did but sadly lost in a hard drive meltdown

I’ll have it somewhere. Let me have a dig about.

if anyone else is on the overnight ferry departing on 22nd Sept, expect to find me and 2 others sprawled out across the seats or deck. Things you never imagined you’d (still) be doing at 49 and a half.

We got that ferry back in 1991 great experience and first time on the island, back then when you got off there were lots of people offering rooms in there home or other places for as little as a tenner a night, we went with Fernando to his Aunts house in the New town part of Ibiza town not far from the old bus station… Stayed there for a few nights and Fernando was a great host and really came alive late at night banging on our door at all hours to come and have a drink with him, next morning completely different person but come mid night he was back in party mode… The address was so dodgy the bicycle rental shop wouldn’t let us keep the bikes overnight.lol…

Flying in today and will be ready to rock Tuesday - Saturday. Never been to Pikes but am on the list for both Morales on Wednesday & Fatboy Slim on Thursday. Looking forward to it. I know things have been crowded but frankly the group we’re going with isn’t too concerned with being front row centre, more just having a good time.

Looking for tips on awesome little bars where we can hangout in the early evening if anyone on the thread is keen to share

Paradise Lost in town is decent for cocktails, so is the rooftop on The Standard Hotel but you’ll probably need to book if you are a largish group

Will now be over 21-28 Sept. tbf 95% of the music I’ve seen billed that week is certified dogshit but the beat hotel might be fun and Harvey is the main man of course on 23 Sep. Just hoping Pikes hasn’t (yet) been overrun by non-musical cunts.

We’re actually staying at the Standard, so that’s great. Paradise Lost is on our list as well. Hearing WOM is great for chill, some live music. Thanks for the validation!

Not been to WOM but deffo has a good rep - I’d be keen to have a look in there but it is on the Santa Eulalia side and haven’t been around that way for a bit.

I like walking around the New part of Ibiza town as I still call it always find a few bars full of characters off the beaten track… Standard roof top is really good late evening

Said’s got some good gigs this week including a vinyl session at The Standard on Saturday, Friday at Soulgood (a great bar any day opf the week - except Wednesdays when it’s closed) and Sunday poolside at Pikes. I highly recommend a dinner at Casa Lhasa in San Lorenzo.

Will miss you by a week mate- we’re doing Pikes on Oct 4th

yeah, real shame. stars didn’t align this time. Out with Dave R. and a few others. God help me haha

September 12-21st for us this year. Staying on the east coast for a change. Some long lunches, Pikes for Harv and Morales and other than that some drinks in Ibiza town at the usual spots we like and a few beach days in the car

My main take away from skipping through this is: what’s going with Norman Cook’s teeth

Ibiza Narcos was a decent 3 parter on SKY. Some good footage, all the usual tunes though. A surprising omission of Scousers, pretty sure they’ve had thier fingers in the pie over there for years.
