The Health Kick (Inside)

More brutal than my wifes Irish stew with barley, and that can be brutal.

Everything they claim to do on the website, they really do.

Check out the reviews, I can vouch they are true.

Making my annual pilgrimage to the Brighton marathon on Sunday, give me a shout if you’re in town. Raising funds as ususal for Breast Cancer Care, who were really helpful to our family a few years ago. Good luck to all with their fitness challenges!

Anyone heard anything about creative for mental health?

3 weeks, no booze. Less anxiety, less monkey chatter, not eating shit, less bloating, getting more stuff done instead of laying on sofa groaning all day watching shite smashing down packets of biscuits and crisps, sleeping better.

I’m not saying never again, just not right now. As my sage neighbour Pete said to me yesterday, tomorrow is sobrieties reward.

I’ve also been taking Symprove daily as recommended by @AndyM and it seems to be working. I’ve stopped taking Lansaprazole (I suspected it was contributing to my sporadic feelings of dizziness combined with headaches) and alongside no booze and less caffeine, I feel like Symprove has definitely calmed down my stomach issues.

I’ve not been brave enough to try the colon detox pills @huffy but I’m definitely psyching myself up! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Well done mate, absolutely smashing it. Tbh you probably won’t need the colon detox if you keep going the way you are going :facepunch:

We both picked up a nasty bug in Mallorca. Worst cough and headache ever. Had half a banana since Friday!

Had a great day in the sun, last 10K was a struggle (I’d picked up an injury and missed about a month of running, so was not really fit enough, so came in 3:54, which is about 30 mins slower than my normal time) but what a great day in the city, Brighton at it’s best! Thanks to all the lovely TP forum crew who were generous sponsors, raised £400+ for Breast Cancer Care

Since i cut out refined sugar, i’ll now have a FAGE fat free greek yoghurt every day, few cut up strawberries / blueberries on top and melt a square of 90% dark chocolate and pour over. Stick it in the freezer for a couple of hours and you got a mega healthy desert which will satisfy your sugar cravings, and high in protein and fibre (and it tastes ace)

Top tip!

I’ve been turning to dried fruit - dates, prunes etc - for the same reason. Can have some, er, unintended consequences, though lol.

We make our own and can’t imagine life without it. It’s quite easy and it’s great to always have some on hand to use in tzatziki sauce or on meatballs. Simply heat whole milk (we prefer homogenised as it gives a more consistent texture) and then allow it to cool before adding the freeze-dried culture and then keep it on a warm setting for the desired time (we let it ferment for 13 hours for a nice tangy finished product), cool, then you’re good to go.

Nice. I’ve been meaning to start doing my own. My ex in-laws used to do it religiously, using a spoon of last week’s (or shop bought) yoghurt to add the culture. Always tasted great.

Yeh same here- gave up drinking in October for my irritable bowl disease brought on by stress. Did a test boozey weekend out in Bristol which did me in for a few days and been dry since then. Has been a lot easier to quit alcohol than expected. I didn’t drink much before hand- a couple beers a week but if I was going out I would always need to have a drink in my hand which is probably the hardest habitat to break after 20 years of drinking
I think getting to a point where you can say to yourself that Im confident enough to be out and social makes it easier- and that you can still talk to people who are drinking and it doesn’t matter! Also just going to events where you the know the music is going to be great helps. I recently did Southport weekender sober with a couple pills and it was all about the music and the vibes.
Having two small kids totally ruins drinking too lol no drink is worth the experience of parenting on a hangover

Good luck sober crew!
