I had that virus too, took 6-7 weeks to work through. Perhaps I’ve been fortunate up to now but I’ve never felt so ill
The cough was extreme. I felt sometimes I would turn myself inside out I couldn’t expel anymore air from my lungs. Horrible.
Oh Christ. I have this right now. Most disorienting at night, as you say, and the cough is bloody annoying. Thanks for posting the video.
I’ve got this now as well, 3 weeks i’ve had it, various symptoms thruout the 3 weeks but the dizziness and tiredness just won’t go, not even a course of antibiotics has completely got rid of it.
It will ease and eventually disappear but expect 5-6 weeks minimum. My partner took 9 weeks to fully recover
It’s not COVID btw, I did three tests at different stages, all negative
Cheers, it has eased somewhat, it wiped me out the first week, but not completely f***ed off like I wish it would.
I suspected it was Covid because i’ve had a strange taste in my mouth, which seems to have gone for the time being, as well but haven’t done a test.
Oh that’s the other thing that I had. Phantosmia, constantly smelling cigarette smoke. Really disconcerting. It’s pretty much gone now but still occurs randomly
Following a stroke (blocked carotid artery) a few months ago caused by cholesterol, I have needed to be more careful.
Bit of a surprise because there was no prior indication and I considered myself to be reasonably healthy.
Although since Covid my work routine changed, so was much less physically active.
I also smoke, although never heavily, but have since reduced and working on quitting - tough though.
I think the lack of excerise is more key for me rather than diet.
Now in a daily routine of swimming, more walks with our dog (better for both of us), health drinks, healthier meals, taking supplements and of course the necessary medication.
Re health drinks.
I drink a fresh turmeric (good for lowering cholesterol), fresh ginger, cinnamon and lemon drink first thing and later in the day a ‘broth’ made from mung beans and black beans (dry pan roast beans, cool and store in a jar. When ready to drink, boil 50gr of the mixed beans in 1 litre of water for 10 mins + a 10 minute simmer, strain off the liquid, refrigerate and drink).
I have read this helps to detox the liver/good for lowering cholesterol.
I’m in no way a health guru, but these are simple drinks to prepare + beneficial.
Oh, and I’m drinking a shed load more water.
Thankfully, I’ve taken the stroke as a warning and an opportunity to change my lifestyle.
Thoughts can be a bit foggy at times and I was quite proud of a photographic memory before it happened, but that’s gone to shit now
Although, I suppose these things also come with age.
Not usually one to air personal stuff, but this thread has been encouraging.
Stay well all x
I had high blood pressure and high cholesterol at the back end of covid. I initially had meds for the HBP, but not for long. It’s no doubt nothing you don’t know ie food and exercise.
The big one for me was stopping the booze which had gotten to at least a bottle of wine every day, more when I was off work (reduced hours in lockdown). That was the main cause of the HBP & HC.
I basically went back to an almost vegetarian diet, but with fish and occasional chicken. Loads of beans/pulses/legumes as my main protein source, wholemeal bread and brown rice and all kinds of fruit and vegetables.
Lots of fresh ginger and turmeric.
Daily exercise, mainly walking and bike and back swimming when that was possible again.
All very obvious and unsexy, but absolutely works.
Does that mean you no longer need meds to control your hbp? Very impressed if so Ive been off the booze a month but it’s not made any difference to my BP. Diet wise I’m kind of ok I think. Could probably do with losing a stone to get to my ideal fighting weight
Sorry to hear of your scare. My brother had a stroke out of the blue a few years ago aged 45 with no prior indications and it really shook him up. But he’s made a great recovery thankfully and it has really made him appreciate his life and the people around him even more. Onwards and upwards.
Thanks Andy, much appreciated.
Reassuring and happy to know your brother has recovered well.
I am certainly looking at life differently after this little bump in the road.
Family and friends have been amazing.
Cheers.
Djon - Hope you recover quickly
as someone who runs ( now occasionally but few years ago a lot) & weights ( good for muscle mass as you head between 50 & 60) I think swimming is brilliant exercise
Ive done for years but stopped for a few years & now trying to more often
Its hard to get into it & not nice changing & getting into a pool & ( espec if proper swimmers) but its easy to pick up
Im shit at the breathing but can now do a (shit) crawl for 3 lengths & then 1x breast stroke
also the weird personal thing of having to walk to pool in just shorts & feeling your shit at it ( which fades)
Really hard work & does muscles & cardio / breathing so perfect for the average age on here
Id recommend to everyone ( & not just because I like strut around the pool side in speedos)
Also if you go to a beach holiday then sea swimming is proper good
But remember
While petting is frowned upon, tittering is positively encouraged. Straight out of Carry up the Lido!
That video is mega, thank you for posting that, seems to have sorted out a horrible bout of dizziness and a feeling of being off centre I’ve had for a week and a half.
Last week on the way home from work I felt so dizzy I was veering all over the place and was hanging on to the escalator handrail for dear life. I’ve always suffered from vertigo which I usually manage to sort out by doing the epley maneuver ( Epley maneuver - Wikipedia ) but this time around that just seemed to make things worse.
I’m going to get my blood pressure checked but I think it may be down to taking omneprazole for quite a while to sort out some stomach issues.
This will brighten up your day
She’s taken the Ozempic too far. Like the Walking Dead, feel sorry for her really
If anyone is wanting to get into some sort of fitness regime, but doesn’t have the time, or inclination for the gym, I can thoroughly recommend kettlebells.
I got a couple when the gyms closed during Covid and they are absolutely ideal for a home workout. Instagram and Reddit are full of little routines you can bash out in 30 minutes. Even 20 minutes if you’re pushed for time. They work your cardiovascular system as well as increasing strength. Definitely wirth a look.
You can start with a single bell. (I’d recommend a 16kg), then if you like it, add a second one. I’ve got two 16s and a 20 at the moment, and hopefully add another 20 this year.
It has been 2 months so far, and I’m still experiencing dizziness and a horrible tinnitus that made me feel like I’m going completely mad. It’s scary.
The tinnitus is getting better but is still present. On the worst days, I feared I was losing my mind, experiencing several anxiety crises due to the hissing in the middle of my brain.
I’m feeling better but not fully recovered; hopefully, it will go away soon
Deep shit
